I’m fairly new to plex I’ev only been running it for about 6-8 months. During that time it has worked almost flawlessly (only a few minor glitches that were resolved quickly). Yesterday I started trying to install rasplex on a raspberry pi 2 so that I could play holiday music away from my computer. It installed fine, booted fine and plays any TV, Movie, Home Video fine. However it would not play any music. It told me to make sure the files were mounted. I looked through the Server settings, and logs and found nothing to indicate why the rasplex PHT could not play any music. Later I tried playing my music through my cell phone and it would try to play but nothing ever happened. No error messages, no music, the player would after a few seconds just stop trying to play. I tried other devices I have loaded plex onto ie. android tablets, tv etc… and the same thing. I don’t know if this is a server issue or something to do with rasplex. I’ve turned off rasplex but that doesn’t change anything with the other devices now none of them will play any music files. I don’t remember changing any settings or at least none that should have this kind of effect. I have tried turning on debugging, rebooted the server several times but cannot get any kind of response. Any help would be appreciated.
UPDATE: It turns out that the rasplex had nothing to do with serving the mp3 files. I reinstalled the plex server and rebuilt the libraries and the rasplex played the mp3 and other media great. I still don’t know what happened with the plex server but I could not find a solution so I installed a more stable version. I still want to get back to the beta release as I’m very interested in the DVR functionality. Unfortunately, I’ve run into a problem with installation (see my other post).
