I have a QNAP TS-453Be wired to asus ac3100 and wired to Xbox One S and most of the movies are lagging. I cant play 40GB movies what I can play over Wifi on my mac without plex. Can someone help me what can be the issue? Maybe the plax is not capable to play larger movies?
My guess (since you haven’t posted plex version, qts version, player version, media file format, etc.) is that your movie requires transcoding to play back on your XB1s for either video or audio which the NAS CPU isn’t beefy enough to support. To enable the GPU HW Transcoding functions, you need to have a Plex Pass subscription.
Even with the plex pass subscription there are some functions that still have to be supported by the NAS CPU. Playing the same files on your mac completely outside of plex is irrelevant.
I got ts251 +, same issue. Plex use too much resources to transcoding which most nas isn’t capable. What’s really annoying is plex can’t correctly identify consol’s playback compatibility. After trying lots of solutions, there are two ways will work.
1, install kodi and kodi plex connection, you’ll get real direct play from kodi. Cons: loose HDR support.
2, map NAS as a driver on your computer, install Plex server on your computer and set up a new sever. Use your computer transcode, NAS as a storage pool.
None of these support atmos, the best you can get is 7.1 channel sound.
By the way, you can directly play from Microsoft movies and tv, but only support few formats.
