QNAP won't registered ractory-reset nas w/plex

I had PMS running on my qnap nas for about a year and I decided to do a memory/HD upgrade and set everything up from scratch.
I factory reset the NAS, got everything qnap related back up and working then went to install PMS on it.

I downloaded the latest x86 version and it installed fine, when i open it, it takes me to the standard sign-in page but then I can’t add any media directories, and the NAS doesn’t show up as a registered device.

I’ve cleared out all my servers from Plex.tv.

I’m not sure what’s going on, the NAS still has the same name, which makes me think maybe plex.tv is confused, even if its not showing under registerd devices.

There was a “lost” server in there … one which had not been active in 10 months.

I have removed it for you.

Now your account is clear.

Sign out of Plex/web first
Open an incognito tab/window
Now setup the QNAP on your LAN (you cannot be on a different subnet or remote or FQDN)

Thanks for the reply.
I removed PMS from the qnap, opened a new browser in incognito, connected to the qnap using the local IP, installed the 1.24 package that I downloaded from the www, and then opened the plex app automatically to the local PMS IP:32400

I signed in and it’s still prompting me to “Add your media to PLEX”
I don’t see my “new” server anywhere.

the server I removed was called FB-Nas (I think) and was last used a few days ago.

Not sure what else I can do.

What is the LAN IP address of your QNAP?
What is the LAN IP address of the computer you are using to set it up?

Are you there with the QNAP or is it remote from you?

10.0.80.2

10.0.40.79

there is proper inter-vlan routing set up.

I am local to the qnap.

Thanks

It doesn’t matter.

Default PMS security is that you must be on the same subnet to claim a server
-or-
SSH tunnel to the NAS and then claim it through the tunnel as if you were on the loopback adapter (local console).

SSH tunnel:

  1. ssh -L 8888:127.0.0.1:32400 ip.addr.of.server

  2. Sign in and let the session sit idle

  3. In local browser: http://127.0.0.0:8888/web

  4. Now the tunnel puts you on the local loopback adapter as if you were on the console.

  5. You can now run setup.

  6. Once setup and claimed into your account, you can access it normally.
