QNAP Wont update library or add any files - after fresh install

So I recently moved house and setup my plex server all was working fine.

Today I had BT Internet installed and cabled it all up and everything was working great.

I decided to uninstall and reinstall plex as i was having issues with folder scanning and new items not appearing, it periodically does this on my qnap from time to time and i usually just uninstall and reinstall from the app store.

I did this and reinstalled using the latest package as i already had this downloaded due to the server asking for an update after id been offline for a month or so from moving house.

However now i am on a fresh install, i go to add librarys and just continually get get this library is empty and the folder scans really quickly.

Ive not made any changes to permissions or folder structure or anything that hasn’t worked absolutely fine the past 2 years or so.

I’ve scoured google looking for similar issues but cant seem to find anything relating to a fresh install on a qnap that was previously working?

Any ideas? Not sure where I’m going wrong and never had issues like this even after an uninstall and reinstall its usually just worked.

I installed:

PlexMediaServer_1.14.1.5488-cc260c476_x86_64.qpkg
Using LG TV to play previously with no issues.

Logs attached from last attempt.

Thanks guys!

@Clarkie

Thanks for the logs. In the future, you can upload them directly here. It makes accessing and diagnosing them FAR easier. Dropbox is painful at best.

I see where you cannot get the OSCP certificate. It can’t get itself working right because of it.

Would you please check the network configuration to make sure:

  1. Your LAN and NAS are on the same subnet (probably are)
  2. Your QNAP is pointing to the right Gateway IP (the modem router). Might not be.
  3. The IP addresses are all in the 192.168.x.x, 172.16.x.x-172.31.x.x, or 10.x.x.x range?

Hi Chuck,

I think they are on the same subnet yes best way to check?

The QNAP Gateway was 192.168.1.254 - I changed this to 192.168.1.1 - No Joy. I also tried to set it to the gateway address on my Routers admin page but it lists Invalid IP address weirdly.

Yeah the QNAP are on 192.168 IP address - But my BT IP is a 86.12 IP - When i put on DHCP the nas that is, it picked up 192.168.1.25 or something like that. AS i said prior to me uninstalling and reinstalling it was fine, granted i did this AFTER i moved on to this router, so i suspect its this routing issue.

Any other ideas?

Ok… go to the router, Make sure it has DHCP server enabled. Hopefully BT set it up correctly for that.

Please don’t confuse the external (WAN) 86.12.x.x. with LAN.

Look at the LAN config of the BT. It should tell you which LAN subnet it is using.

192.168 isn’t a complete subnet specification. We need that 3rd digit. 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x are the most common.

Need to dig a bit deeper

Hey Chuck,

Sorry yeah the NAS IP I set to a static ip of 192.168.1.2 It was previously getting a DHCP address from the BT Router. athough prior this it was on the above static ip and hadnt changed it but was properly where I changed over from the previous NetGear router to this BT SmartHub.

DHCP server is setup and enabled yes.

LAN Subnet from what i can see is 255.255.255.0? - Router IP is 192.168.1.254.

Im using some home plugs to get the QNAP its network in a second bedroom but again never been an issue till i switched to this BT.

Hopefully this info helps and im missing something silly and simple.

Nick

Sorry for the delay. It’s been a busy day.

  1. Ok, the server is at 192.168.1.2
  2. Router is 192.168.1.254
  3. Subnet mask, on the QNAP, is 255.255.255.0 (should be)
  4. Please go here and get the QNAP package for PMSLibShare. https://github.com/ukdtom/PMSLibShare
  5. With it installed, you can easily access your Plex log files as well as create the ZIP to upload.
  6. That ZIP will let me see what’s happening.
