Hi! Apologies if I've missed something really simple, but I'm having trouble with the quality of videos on the xbox one app. When I launch a movie I can never choose anything higher than 720P, even when the movie is 1080P.
I choose "automatic", but that is lower quality than when watching it locally through XBMC. I have a beast of a PC encoding the stuff, and a good wireless signal, so it's strange that I can't enjoy the videos in full quality.
Other than that I really love the app. Keep working on it :)
Anyone? I really would like to know if this is just a limitation of the Xbox one app, or if there’s a setting somewhere I missed. I chose the option to make my CPU hurt, but nothing changed.
There's a setting within the app itself but I believe you can only access it while a movie is playing. hit the 3 dots next to the fast forward on screen button.
Update: I can choose 1080P when I watch bluray-rips that are 1080P. But other movies that are (according to Plex as well) 1080P, but are smaller in size, like 3 GB, I can only choose up to 720P. Strange. Maybe it's a format thing.

3gb is pretty small for a 1080p file, i'm guessing that 720p is it's native resolution. Check out the file info on the plex webserver. and the info of the file. here is an example of two files.
Don’t know if it’s related to this but I have a number of files that are 1280x722 and on my plex Webserver they are shown as 1080p due to the height being more than a 720p file should have. When I play them back however the device correctly displays 720p. Possibly a similar issue?
