I use both Linux and Windows 10. I have a general question concerning “Live TV & DVR.” My question is, do I physically need the HomeRun tuner box in order to use XTEVE Tuner application? Plex doesn’t seem to find XTEVE Tuner, it appears to only look for the HDHomeRun box.
No physical HDHomeRun tuner is required. When you set up Live TV & DVR, you should be given the option to manually specify a tuner’s IP address, in addition to what’s automatically detected (if anything):

When you select that link, you’ll be presented with something like this:

In that box, enter the IP address/port combination of your xTeVe tuner; it will be the IP address of the host on which you run it, with the port 34400. Something like:
192.168.1.100:34400
Click connect and it should find it. I may take a few seconds. If you find it takes a while, navigate away from the Live TV & DVR settings and back. You may find that it is listed now.
Thank you. That’s what I figured. But for some reason, it never worked. I’m wondering… I’ve been trying to set it up on my local windows, but I also have PLEX installed on my Linux seedbox. I haven’t been able to get XTeve installed on Linux. Even with the latest Wine it didn’t work. I’ll have to do more research I guess. ![]()
I’ve only used it on Linux. But there, it can be as simple as moving the binary into its own folder and running:
./xteve -config ./config
(Wine is not necessary; there’s a Linux-native executable on the project’s Github page.)
This tells it to use the configuration from a folder named “config” in the same path; if “config” doesn’t already exist it will be created and a new configuration database will be created. From there, you can perform configuration by browsing to it at http://ip.address.of.host:34400/web.
I’m no xTeVe expert, I’ve only used it to perform some basic testing. There are likely others on these forums who can provide more detail.
Thank you so much, this is a huge help. I’ll check it out!
I found the problem. I didn’t realize, I had to reboot the PLEX on my seedbox, even though I installed Xteve on my local windows 10 PC. Performs 3,000X better than Emby.
