I see the new Plexamp Super Sonic feature is not supported by ARM servers (Nvidia Shield TV).
I understand that it’s not powerful enough and would take an eternity to scan.
However what about the bonus features, specifically Album Types and On This Day.
Are these also bound to an Intel/Amd server?
My Nvidia Shield is running v.1.24.0.4939 and I’m not seeing these features in Plexamp.
Thanks.
For the Album Types you need to refresh metadata for your music library.
Are you sure you have Albums released today? They would show on Home tab of PlexAmp
Can anyone answer, what data or metadata is Plex using to determine and use Sonic? What technology is being used for Sonic Analysis?
The blog post should clear up your questions:
tl;dr - it’s a machine learning model that runs on your server and places each of your tracks, albums, and artists at a point in n-th dimensional space, and calculates the distance between each item to figure out similarity.
These work everywhere.
Thanks.
Refreshing metadata sorted the album/EP/live tagging.
In regards to the On this day feature, where does the release date data come from? I’ve only ever tagged my music with a release year, not a specific date.
Does plexamp pickup my tag or get this info from internet metadata?
Thanks again.
Plex gets its music metadata from a variety of sources, including TiVo/AllMusic, Last.FM, MusicBrainz, and more. I believe the release date is specifically from MusicBrainz though.
Also for release day it is every 5 years from release. So album released 5. 10, 15, 20… years ago today
Would it be possible to make this feature for each year ?
1 year ago 2 years ago 33 years ago and so on ?
Anything is possible, but we’d like to encourage people to grow their music libraries; for medium to large libraries, doing every year would result in a ton of albums every day, and it would lose its special nature.
