If I try to play anything using my iPhone, iPad, or the web player there is no buffering. Everything works fine. However trying to play back anything using my Nvidia Shield (2019) or Philips Android TV (PS7300 series) results in a Your connection to the server is not fast enough half the time. It’s insane. I can try to play the same file multiple times and occasionally it’ll playback fine. Next file I try it’ll throw the warning and I’ll have to exit and retry repeatedly. I’ve spent hours trying to figure it out, I’m now lost and looking for some assistance. I have a 70/10mbps line and have been using this setup for ages. I’ve even managed to successfully watch 4k from this server.
This is what happens with a healthy stream (for an 8mbps video):
Here is what happens when a stream buffers (for the same 8mbps video):
It seems like something is throttling the connection but I’ve no idea where to begin.
I’m running Plex in a linuxserver docker container, which sits behind nginx, on a server in a datacentre with a 1000mbps line. I’ve been using this setup for well over a year now without any issue. I’m convinced there is something wrong with the android player. The shield is hardwired and everything I try to play with it comes down the pipe as direct play whether is buffers or not.
I’ve used the organizr v2 speed test from the server which maxes out my download bandwidth at 83mbps. I’ve tried rolling back a couple of patch versions of the server, setting the lan network setting to 0.0.0.0/0
as per this thread. Nothing seems to make any difference.
Attached are my logs, maybe someone can help me understand what’s happening?
