I’ve been using Plex for quite some time now and this is the 3rd time I have encountered this issue. Plex has randomly added ‘films’ into my movies library with random names like ‘$I33wu7m’. It’s starting to get quite annoying as I have to manually delete them every time they appear and I have a lot of people connected to my server so they see it too.
I have been running this server for about 7 months or so now and it has occurred in the past 2 weeks. A fix to this would be great as I can’t find it anywhere else.
edit - running can library files does not help and well as refreshing metadata.
Are you downloading or ripping directly into the folders which are being “watched” by Plex?
Don’t.
Have you rerouted the ‘transcoder temporary folder’ or the whole ‘Plex data folder’ away from their default positions?
If you did, you must make absolutely sure that none of your Plex libraries is pointing to the same folder(s).
Those filenames look like Recycle Bin filenames to me. You should try the Get Info suggestion and figure out where they’re located and why they’re in your library in the first place.
That was it. My recycle bin drive was a folder plex could access on the drive as I have it literally as D:/ so the recycle bin of that drive was accessible. Just had to empty the bin and it was all good.
The location of the files shown by plex was just outside the bin folder. Thank you all!
