IDK if only for tvshows but last Plex Server f.ed up completely playback for my tv shows with DTS/EAC3 audio and I’m getting Playback_Error. Also IDK why the hell I always be fooled with new versions of servers when something stopping works.
Do you have something to contribute to this existing thread or would your problem better be handled in its own thread?
How much media do you have indexed?
I wonder if exporting and re-importing to compact it would help you.
It does “vacuum” itself but there are some things which even vacuum won’t do.
I am a bit concerned about any need you’ve had to fix the matches. I use a renaming tool for mine and never need worry about it.
I keep custom artwork with the media itself so it’s always there when I do rebuild.
Allot - And all are named according to the Plex guidelines…
But since I have dk as a language when searching for descriptions and titles this sometimes can cause problems - Plex gets it wrong or sometime add to different movies as one movie
This is only a small % but with a large collection this gets very tiersome
Also the meta data is almost 600G now and it would take months to get that back
(Encoding to forward with thumbnails etc.)
The DB is working and I have set everything to scan and empty trach and bundles and optimize it daily so it should be okay?
I have changed the size of the “fs.inotify.max_user_watches=65536” because I have read that Unraid uses this across different dockers and Plex is not my only media server - I have also Emby running (When Plex cant do playback then Emby will come through as a backup)
So maybe my problem is solved? - sofar all playback has ben fine
Looking at the console for Errors I only have these left and I think its the epg import? (Running the Dane plugin to get TV XML): Nothing to bad…
downloadContainer: expected MediaContainer element, found html

“Folder” is nothing to worry about.
Engineering is working on things and that’s something else they have.
Hey team! Sorry if this is jiggering an old thread (first time poster, long time lurker) but I wanted to confirm that I was having similar issues with EAE timeouts and was able to fix it (at least short-term) by deleting my Codecs folder.

Unraid Server version: 6.8.3
Plex Server version: 1.18.8.2527 (official docker)
Player version: All consumers
I was able to use putty to SSH into my server and delete the Codecs folder in /config/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/ and things seem to be hunky-dory now. Will reach out if I continue to have issues. Thanks support forum!
Hi @ChuckPa
I have disabled all auto updates to my official Plex inc. docker to see if the auto update function was the reason that it started to suddenly stop!
Now it just happened again and I got the logs just after starting it up again, but I don’t know where to look, could you please help to see if you can find the reason for the sudden “shutdowns”
Sofar the DB and the eac3 errors have not been seen, so my hope is that I don’t have to delete the DB and do a rescan of every media files…
Sorry forgot to upload the logs… Also I found this
Shutting down with signal 15 (Terminated)
But my system is still running so does that indicate that something told Plex to stop?
UPDATE: I think it’s the update vs the backup plugin that need more time difference in order not to conflict with each other… more date = more time so let’s see if that solves the problem
Signal 15 is the official signal to shutdown PMS. Somewhere you have something telling PMS to stop.
This just started happening to me on ubuntu 20.04
i didn’t really feel like trying to diagnose what was going on so I just deleted the codec folder like someone mentioned above.
why does deleting the codec folder fix this issue for me?
