Hello there!
The Raspberry Pi 2 (Rasplex)is enough to play 1080p 2D HD movies (x264 level 4.1+, about 10-15mbit, DTS or DD5.1)
I will plan to buy one, because my Samsung tv don’t support internal mkv subtitles and only support 4.0 level x264.
So i able to play x264 level 4.0+ movies and internal mkv subtitles (direct play) with Raspberry Pi 2?
I don’t have any MKV/MP4 files above ~35mb so I haven’t tested to the limits of L4.1, but so far so good.

Yeah it’ll eat that media for breakfast. In all seriousness it’ll play fine
It’ll play those files fine. Just plan on using Rasplex 0.6.0. With the current 0.7.1 release I have to force transcode everything. It seems to be specific to this release. I think I’ve read its addressed in the next release but there’s really no details on the timing of that.

Finishing touches being applied, out in a couple of days.

Thanks for the update, Ned!
I know I’m not the only one having the issue. 720p files play fine. Anything 1080p with decent bit rates have issues and thus the need to transcode.
