Just ssh into raspberry with user plexuser (pwd rasplex) and then give a password to root user (sudo passwd root). Now you can log in with root and start plexht.
Thanks so much! Woo saved me buying a keyboard. Now one last questions, i have read how to autostart it with pht-autostart-on however I am typing that via ssh however when it reboots it still comes up with a logon screen? I am using RC4?
I haven't tried this yet (I'm just re-imaging my SD Card but this is apparently a fix. Hope it helps / works.
[user@host command]
plexuser@rasplex plexht
Password: rasplex
: )
Thanks I tried the sudu command but it didn't do anything
Hi all
First of all, congratulations to you dale, what you accomplished is simply amazing.
So i’m curretll running the rc4, planning to go to rc5 later today, but i was wondering if it was normal that i couldn’t login into myplex?
i write my login and password, but when i go on “sign in” and press enter, nothing happens.
Anyways, thx again.
Dale,
Is “rasplex-updater” the preferred way to update now (if using rc3 or later)?
Also, after running rasplex-updater, how do I check if I’m running the latest version?
Not yet really, it should be the case in the next versions though.
Script has been tested and is working. Once the image will include everything needed, that should be the prefered way.
Prefered way is still to burn the image down onto a SD so far.
I’m running rc4 and I’ve tested everything to allow autostart, but it doesn’t’ work. I’m the only one experiencing this problem?
from what i can see in trello, there is an issue which should be corrected since rc5.
but you should be able to fixe this in rc4 with the following :
sudo chown -R plexuser:plexuser /home/plexuser
Hello there,
I have a harddisk directly connected to my pi. How can plex discover this? TIA
I've already tested the chown command... but still doesn't work.
I'll give a try to rc5
You might want to wait a little bit more for the rc7 which should come soon and should bring some useful fixes :)
RC 8 is out, http://blog.srvthe.net/archives/549, it's in my opinion the best release yet. It will probably be the new stable, and the last release for a while, as I will be focusing my efforts on properly formatting my git packages, and getting rasplex rolled out on raspbian and openelec.
I will then be providing nightly builds for all 3 platforms, and then will turn my attention to debugging things on the gentoo port (the current rasplex).
However, it looks like we'll be able to get various things for free with raspbian and openelec (such as lirc, and maybe even a wifi network manager).
Stay tuned folks!
If you can spare some change, you can support these projects by donating at http://srvthe.net. I'll be offering a portion of the donations to AnilD and weelkin, who were responsible for creating the raspbian and openelec ports respectively while I was patching things up on the gentoo platform, and finding ways to optimize the source. Thanks guys!
Awesome job! Will this have support for channels?
I have downloaded RC8 but still cannot get it to autostart what am i missing? I have tried pht-autostart-on then off then on again and also sudo chown -R plexuser:plexuser /home/plexuser and it still will not auto start
Run pht-autostart-on, then reboot to have it autostart (it only autostarts on reboot)
To just run plexht, type "plexht".
Just in case some of you wonder, rc8 has nice improvements regarding GUI speed.
it seems to have some playback issues though, player will randomly stop playing after 10-20 secs.
this is a reported issue
RC8
1080p back to stuttering
sometimes movies play sometimes they don’t
Time doesn’t stay set
menu faster
How can I get the channels to work? They show up just wont play anything?
went back to rc4 as is seems the most stable
Great job on RC8 guys
I will have to test playback some more.
One thing I noticed is that my 24 hour clock doesn’t work (it says “1” instead of “13” for example).
