Raspberry Pi

This is awesome!

Looks very promising but sometimes I have to reflash the sd-card after powering down. I get a "no space left on device" error after when I boot. And the CPU load is pretty much constant at 95-99% when it idles in the plex menu.

I'll throw out my boxee box and make a donation once this gets a bit more stable :)

Sorry, i can't really compare the 512 model to the old one performance wise.  The old one is permanently installed in a project at the moment and i can't easily get at it to run some tests.  I just got the 512 about a week ago and this is the first thing i've put on it.

Hi Dale,

Your work so far on this is awesome and I can't wait to see where you take it. Just wanted to share my experience trying to flash an SD card and run on the Raspberry Pi 512mb model with the latest image last night. I flashed the card on my MacBook Pro and didn't have any issues with that process. In fact, it was the easiest, fastest OS install I've tried so far. However, once I booted up on the Pi, I had some strange issues either related to the skin (I was using Confluence) or the keyboard setup.

I was able to navigate around the interface just fine using the keyboard and could press enter and esc to jump in and out of various menus, but I was unable to enter a few key menus that cut my experience short. For example, I could enter the system "settings" menu, but I could not get to the "profile" menu, the "system info" menu and I couldn't get the exit/logout/reboot menu either. As a result, I couldn't test any of the video functionality because I couldn't set up the video sources in the profile menu. I didn't have a chance to try a mouse with the system, so couldn't tell you the result on that yet. Just wanted to give you the heads up on that behavior.

Thanks and good luck!

Hi,

As of now, the tests are mostly run on the mediastream skin, and confluence is not yet being tested a lot.

This might come later though, but we'll try first to fix the mediastream performance & features :)

In order to tease, here is how responsive GUI could be on pi, just wish we had consistent performance :)

So as Dale would say, sit tight & relax :)

Thank you developers, testers for so great work. I am announce that from day I can help you too. I don't know if get enough time to help develop something, but I can help with QA.

I have installed latest build from sourceforge, but GUI is not so "instant" responsive as LongChair show on the video. Should we wait for another build?

Also, I have some issues with Bluray (remux) playback. It lags every 3rd sec. But, I have good playback for 720p.

If you want more info, I can give you all logs from device.

Do not worry, as i was mentionning, this was for tease. We have noted some inconsistency in the gui performance.

This video illustrates a case where the performance is very good, but i have no clue why i had this "blessed" performance.

When i rebooted th pi I went back to much less smooth navigation especially on the fanouts.

But we are currently investigating this issue.

Just wanted to show and keep a record that the PI should be capable :)

Thanks for all the hard work guys!

Is anyone (Dale?) looking into the "turn pi/rasplex on, and it slows down the entire LAN making it unusable" problem?

It happens both with my Edimax WiFi controller and Ethernet, making rasplex unusable at the moment.

I'm looking very forward to this all being worked out! Honestly can't wait guys. Keep up the good work! As others have noted though, I think the wifi is a bit buggy at the moment, is there anyway we could help i.e. generate a log or something?

As I said before, I believe this is a problem with your router.

May be your Pi   I have had no problems with wifi or ethernet

Hey Dale   release coming tonight?   you have been good about 1 a week

What wifi adapter do you use ?  I have a edimax like Martin and Am experiencing the same network slowdown .

I also have the Edimax and have the same slowdown issue. However, it is also just as slow if I unplug the Edimax and have the Pi on a wired connection.

I'm getting similar speeds to your video LongChair using 0.1.19 even with the global side show enabled - fanouts load almost instantly and the GUI is very smooth. I'm looking forward to the introduction of hi-res images :)

Very impressive guys!

If u want to try cec do this.

cd /usr/local/share/XBMC/system
wget http://download.raspbmc.com/downloads/lib/bin/libcec.so.2.0.0
plexht

I have been using it and it works fine.

Just grabbed the latest build of rasplex 0.1.19

Tried the command above to get HDMI cec working but the directory /usr/local/share/XBMC/system does not exist in this build

Anybody managed to get hdmi cec working?

Hi,

CEC should be working out of the box in 0.1.19. It has been working for me since a bunch of releases already.

so here are a few things you might want to check :

- is CEC working in teh same situation with XBMC ?

- there is a setting to enable / disable CEC in preferences > ... input devices, how is that setting ?

- there should be info in PHT log if something goes wrong, maybe you can have a look at it ?

Private trello board? I can't access it.

Dale,

Any chance you could change the name of the UK localisation to UK rather than British?

Having it as British rather than UK or GB makes it out of place, I thought it was missed out at first, regular Plex HT has it as UK

Fixed (i think), that's what I get when I work on rasplex until 5am.

Very odd... it is using the exact same code base. Unless if the localisation data comes from OpenELEC instead (which actually makes a lot of sense).

I'll flag this.
