RasPlex 0.6.0 released - Issues and Feedback

Hi,

I'm new to RasPlex and to Rasberry Pi in general, so forgive me if I get the terminologies wrong.

Had 0.5.1 and I noticed all my 5.1 surround sound movies were being converted into stereo. When I installed 0.6.0 I noticed only AC3 audio worked perfectly (full 5.1 sound). DTS and AAC 5.1 don't work properly, I get all channels except center (so no voice). Just to ensure it wasn't a hardware issue or plex server configuration issue I used my laptop instead and everything works perfectly in terms of AC3, DTS and AAC 5.1 sound.

I think you're on the right track with 0.6.0 I just need my center channel to work. Please help!

Have just tested this with movies with AAC5.1, DTS, and DD (AC3) soundtracks, all play without any problems, sound from all channels through my AV receivers (Sony and Onkyo), as @knightorc suggests, check your settings.

Regards

Brilliant - Just installed the new version. It configured my remotePI by simply selecting it in the settings menu. Didn't have to mess around with all those scripts.

FF and rewind also now work. Brilliant !!!

thx for the hard work !!

raspberry pi2 have no speak sound only background music of a film or serie no talking sound! ... reinstall 2 times... try different settings installing 0.5.1 back

I follow this update from the update menu inside rasplex and installing completly clean from the windows install tool:

  • Ensure you are using the updated installer
  • As FFMPEG AVIO is now fixed, remember to check the option in Preferences-> Playback->Advanced video

Before i make anything stupid. What is the easiest way to update to Plex 0.6.0? I have an RPI 2 and use the dual boot system Berryboot. Is the only way to delete the old version and install the new or is there any easier way?

Great Thanks to the team !!!

The easiest for me was getting the update archive, extracting KERNEL, SYSTEM and their .md5 files to /storage/.update and reboot. This way it keeps all my custom configurations (lirc, licences and so on). I do not know if berryboot could interfere with this method though, but i don't think so

Thanks a lot for your really great work!!

I use Rasplex to transcode videos from a remote PMS. Everything is working fine, except one issue: Resume while transcoding still does not work. The videos always start from the beginning. I have seen this issue resolved in PHT 1.3.7.

Are there plans to switch from PHT 1.3.5 to 1.3.7 in the next release ?

*edit*

donation incoming, rasplex is just awesome.

Hi, I've just installed 0.6, all looking good (including providing support for my wifi USB dongle which caused the previous version to crash!), except one niggle.  Note this was the same on the previous version, I've only just started playing with Rasplex, I'm hoping it's me who's got something wrong, I thought I'd wait for the new version to see if it worked before starting to ask questions.

I can't seem to "fling" photos from my android phone running plex client.  I believe I'm running the latest version of everything.  I can fling videos without issue, but when I try photos, if the rasplex is in the main menu, nothing happens on the rasplex side.  If I try it when the rasplex is displaying a photo, I can sort of get control of the photos to move it onto next/previous from my phone, but it won't synch to show the photo diosplayed on my phone.

This is actually one of the things I really wanted to be able to do, so when friends/family are around I can easily navigate photos, find something I want to show them, and display it on theTV.  It's probably the only thing stopping me investing in a dedicated low power plex server rather than running it from my main PC which isn't always on.

Any assitance much appreciated! This is supposed to be supported functionality isn't it?

Hello. Thanks for the update. I've noticed alag in the animation transitions. Could someone confirm that? It's faster than 0.5.1 but slower than the kwiboo's last version

After updating to 0.6.0 I have trouble with Rasplex not reconnecting through CEC after powering of and on my TV. I have to reboot Rasplex and everything works fine (until I power off and on TV again)

(Everything worked fine in 0.5.1.)

I have reset the CEC to default setting.
I did a update in Plax setting. Should I do a complete new installation?

(Pi2 and LG TV)

I've just taken a fresh SD card and put 0.6.0 on it.  After powering on the RPi2, it comes up with some info about resizing partition and mklink etc, then restarts after 15 seconds.  When it restarts it seems to just hang on the "Plex for OPENELEC" logo with writing in the top left "RasPlex (Official) - Version: RP-0.6.0".  It's sat there twice now for over 5 minutes.  I switched it all off the first time and reflashed the SD card, but it's done it the second time now.

Any ideas?

Maybe you use the wrong image. RPi1 image for RPi2?

Maybe you use the wrong image. RPi1 image for RPi2?

I definately selected "Raspberry Pi2" and "0.6.0" from the dropdown menus .  The second time, I downloaded the file from github and selected that as the image file.

If I switch the RPi2 off and on after it hangs on that screen, there's a new message at the top left:

***Error in mount_storage: mount_common: Could not mount /dcv/mmcblk0p2 ***

### Starting debugging shell... type exit to quit ###

h: can't access tty: job control turned off

No idea what that means?

EDiT:

Nevermind, turns out it was a dodgy SD card adapter! <_<  Everything works beautifully! Thanks dev team you rock! :D Any chance of a "Go To Time Mark" feature? e.g. "Go to 28m 36s"? I believe Kodi has had this since 2009, would be very handy! Thanks again :D

Also I noticed in the update notes about support for showing shared sections on home screen and to "enable by adding ```sharedsectionsonhome``` to ```advancedsettings.xml```".  Is this done on the SD card? Is it as simple as just adding "sharedsectionsonhome" on a new line and saving? Thanks in advance!

I did it by adding a new file to .plexht/userdata named advancedsettings.xml

Have just followed your steps to try to replicate this. On both the RPi1 and RPi2 choosing 'Start from beginning' plays another trailer and then starts the movie from the beginning, as per expected result. Suggest you check you installation.

Not a bug, sorry.

@NedtheNerd, It looks like this was an issue at the beginning of the year with PHT 1.3.2 (https://forums.plex.tv/topic/131426-pht-132417-start-from-beginning-broken/?hl=%2Bcinema+%2Btrailer#entry817382) and fixed in PHT 1.3.6 (https://forums.plex.tv/topic/56516-plex-home-theater/?p=843658). I don't see this listed as one of the fixes from 1.3.6 that RasPlex 0.6.0 included so i'm assuming this is still a problem in RasPlex.

I have been using Rasplex for a year now, and I am still amazed at how each release improves the global experience. This one in particular with the FF/FR improvement, which is really huge on RPi1. Thanks for the hard work guys  :)

I'm also having a problem with the central (voice) sound channel not working. I have AC3 selected, DTS selected, and Audio output channels set to 5.1.

Anybody found a workaround?

Make sure you check AC3 and DTS capable receiver in the preferences, as well as selecting 5.1 for the sound (PCM) output (this gets used when the software decoder is used for things like AAC, MP3 etc).

Thanks for responding Knight. I already checked and the setup is fine AC3 and DTS are enabled, as mentioned before it works with my laptop just not with the Rasberry Pi

Same here.

Thank you Ned, I did as knight suggested, and there are no issues on the receiver end, I don't get why it would work from my laptop and not from the Pi
