RasPlex 0.7.0 released

@benjaminwolf:
Please describe in greater detail how Plex sign in failed, so we can consider how to fix it.
I myself and many others have had no problem in signing in with the new RasPlex version after flashing the 0.7.0 image onto a fresh SD card, so your problem should be due to some difference between our setups.

One potential difference lies in the precise means of entering the login data.
I use miniature USB wireless keyboards for my RPi units, and have never had any problems with this.
But bluetooth keyboards and CEC or IR interfaced remote controls have very varied results.

Bluetooth works very badly for now, and CEC works inconsistently between TV manufacturers. But at least many such CEC problems can be fixed by configuring (both in RasPlex and in TV menus), and by editing the XML scripts that control how RasPlex interprets and responds to remote control buttons.

Can also have sign in issues if the time is out by a large enough amount, SSL doesn’t like that.

Hey @dlanor

Using a run of the mill physical full US layout USB keyboard. Did not appear to be a keyboard issue.

Appears to not make a connection into the Plex login system as there is no PIN displayed for pairing and login credentials just spin forever as if it couldn’t connect.

I thought it was an NTP time issue, but after updating with pool.ntp.org I’m still getting nothing. I was using WiFi for both 0.6.0 and 0.7.0. It maybe related to the USB WiFi dongle support. However, after upgrading to 0.7.0 from 0.6.0 using the auto update tool inside rasplex, everything works correctly.

@benjaminwolf:
I suppose it could be a matter of failed dongle initialization, which for some reason didn’t happen when you’ve updated from within the older version. Still, this implies the risk that the same thing might happen again if you have to sign in with 0.7.0 in some future RPi launch. (Like we had to do after the recent intrusion of the Plex forums, when Plex Inc had to invalidate PMS passwords.) But I guess you can do it with an Ethernet connection if that need should arise.

Fresh install of 0.7.0 and I cannot signin to Plex with un/pw or pin. Had to install 0.6.0, sign into plex, then upgrade from within rasplex.

Suggest you update PMS to 0.9.12.8, there were a number of fixes in 9.12.5.

I have Update my Pi2 as an New Install (flashing the microsd cad new).
All Works fine except the Language Setting. I Change it to german and after reboot its english again. In the Same Settings window the Clock had the settings like i choose.
Maybe others have the same problem?

@TaLun:
My own results in testing this do not match yours.

I’ve just tried this myself on my own RPi2, using an SD card on which RasPlex 0.7.0 was installed by flashing it with the new image, just as in your case. Normally I use “English (US)” for RasPlex, so I can discuss things with the majority of RasPlex users using the same terminology for all RasPlex usage, but for this test I switched it to “German” in the Preferences menu. When the language switch was complete I then opened the side menu and used the “Neustart” command to reboot, and the RPi2 then rebooted into a new session still using the German language.

The only exceptions to this are the same before and after the reboot, as there are a lot of words not included in the translation files, and these all come out in English regardless of the language setting. And the OpenELEC “System Settings” component no longer has any multilanguage support, so that too uses the English language regardless of settings.

My test was of course done using the standard “Plex” skin, so use of any other skin may cause other results.
If you did use the same skin as I in getting your different results, then something is wrong in your setup.

One thing we always suspect when settings fail to ‘bite’ is the quality of the SD card.
Please check that your card has class 10 or UHS-1 markings.

Class 10 marking is a capital “C” partly surrounding the digits “10” (a single digit for lower classes)
UHS-1 marking is a capital “U” surrounding the digit “1”

The UHS-1 standard is a newer standard for high-performance cards and when this marking is present there may or may not also be a Class 10 marking (but never any lower class).

Hey guys thank you so much for developing RasPlex! It’s certainly made my home cinema more enjoyable and easier to manage!

I updated yesterday to 0.7.0 from 0.6.0 and my experience so far is this:

  • needed to uncheck DTS, AC3, E-AC3 passthrough although my TV is capable of playing (worked on 0.6.0)
  • FF/RW 15 seconds lags for 1-2 seconds before continuing playback compared to 0.6.0 which was almost instant
  • I’m loving the smoothness of the UI and the small UI changes :slight_smile:

Cheers!

I have RasPlex connected to my TV via Pioneer amplifier and my TV remote works with it.
There is but one key that I wish worked bit differently. Is there an option to remap that key if so how to do it?
This is the remote I have: http://www.techtree.com/sites/default/files/styles/image_width_620_watermark/public/2013/9/22.jpg
Return button put me back to library view while the movie plays in the background, you can see little thumb on the left bottom side of the screen and to be honest I have no idea how to go back to playback.

Has FFMPEG AVIO transport been fixed in this release?

Thanks for all the hard work!

As some other user reported, the filter list has disappeared after I applied one filter. Now I see like 40 movies and if I go to filters it appears a blank menu; I rebooted couple of times but the filter remain applied and I can’t clean up the filter section.
I also have some network problem, that are kind of variable: if I set manually the ip, at the restart it doesn’t find my server and the only thing visible is “Search”, very few times logs in. With dhcp enabled happens the very same thing, and if I go on the settings menu, I can see the network that says “configuring” (or something like that, I really don’t remember) but I can stay there forever but nothing changes. If I click I can choose between “Connect” or “Configure”, I press connect and it gives immediately an ip, and on the main menu appears every category. I checked and “Connect automatically” is flagged.
It was a fresh install; now I’m gonna reinstall it to get rid of the filters and test more the network problems. Let me know if you want some log or anything.
Thanks

Hi Guys, thanks for the update.

Automatic update went smoothly for me. Didn’t test a lot at the moment, but I met a first problem : I have to uncheck AC3 and DTS capable receiver to hear any audio.

Any ideas?

I have the same problem, no audio. any fix?

There is a fix in the next release for those users who are finding they have a problem with audio channels, I’ll also do a ‘sticky’ to assist in setting things up for different audio setups.

Regards

@NedtheNerd - Any idea of when the next release will be to correct the audio channels issue (just curious) :)?

Unfortunately my testing on 3 different RPi2’s show that this doesn’t appear to be the case.

I had 0.6.0 and upgraded to 0.7.0 which seemed great but then I played a video a few minutes, paused it for restroom break and then came back to play it , and it’s asking to resume from 05:59 or start from beginning. I want to start from beginning but it won’t let me. It just repeatedly asks to resume or start from beginning. The only option that works is resume from 05:50
