Hi, first thanks to everyone involved with Plex and the forums its awesome.
I have been trying to install rasplex on a new model b pi but when it boots up before i get to the main menu the screen graphics get completely jumbled up and destroyed rising up from the bottom of the screen and render it unusable.
I can still ssh into it and navigate the folder structure for a few minutes until the pi goes on standby. If I boot up without being connected to the network It works ok but as soon as i connect to the network after 30 secs or so it again crashes.
I have tried:
2 pi's
2 class 4 sd cards
1 class 10 sd card
6 different builds of rasplex from bleeding edge, latest stable, down to 1.35
same result using wireless or ethernet.
I am using a 1.5A power supply
Tried it with usb keyboard and mouse and HDMI connected and disconnected.
everything i have tried results in the same crash, the only thing stopping the crash is disconnecting the network but like i said once i connect to the network i can browse for 30 secs or so and then it crashes again.
Hi Rob, thanks for the reply. I'll give it a try but I think i've already had a go with that but i'll try again. Its weird because it seems like nobody else has this problem. I have run XBMC on the Pi's so i know they are not faulty. I have also tried flashing SD cards using a Mac and Windows but same result and i'm using the latest plex server. Disconnecting from the network is the only thing that prevents the crash but obviously then i cant access the server.
I have used the rasplex installer using a macbook and a windows machine, and have used the dd command on the macbook and the win32 disk imager. I have also tried not using the hdmi but still crashes. What i'm not sure about is whether it has actually crashed or whether its just a graphical crash.
I suggest trying a different power adapter. An old Blackberry 700ma works fine in mine but the HTC 1a that I purchased for it doesn't. It freezes part way though boot with the HTC.
Thanks for the advice, i have now tried a new power adapter but still have the problem, the screen just ends up resembling a tv not tuned in correctly with horizontal and diagonal lines across it frozen. I just don't get it because no-one else seems to have this problem. it will only stay stable without being connected to the network but then obviously i can't access anything from the server.
just tried 9.9.15 but still same result unfortunately.
Not sure if it's good news or not but I have exactly the same problem. New install of Rasplex, latest stable build, 2A power supply, Class 10 SDHC card, Rasberry pi B, 512mB.
With network connected, it crashes as described after the 'loading Rasplex' screen. Reboot with ethernet disconnected and it's OK, first-time wizard runs. At the point where you select network connection, obviously there isn't one to select. Connect ethernet and crash.
Very frustrating! Tried it with another card and it's the same. The same setup runs OpenElec happily
Not sure if it's good news or not but I have exactly the same problem.
Good news for me but not you i'm afraid, i was thinking i was the only one with this problem. Your description sounds exactly what happens to me. Depending on which build i use, plex crashes at different points though. Older builds crash just after the loading screen, newer builds make it to the home screen but crash within 30 secs.
