Rasplex, RPI2, Harmony Touch and Flirc

Been digging thru the forums - but I'm not getting anywhere after trying several of the options listed.

I have two RPI2's - each running rasplex 0.5.1 and with a flirc.tv dongle attached.

One of them I'm using an apple remote - I used the flirc's simple layout and just programmed it. Working fine.

The other is connected to a system where I use a harmony touch. And I can't seem to get any response.

So far I've tried https://forums.plex.tv/topic/134667-harmony-touch-flirc/- but the arrow pad on the touch does nothing.

So - I also tried https://flirc.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/201676079-Harmony-Remote-Controlwith the builtin checkbox checked - again nothing.

Just for fun - I tried "let's program the Up key" in flirc's program and hit the up key on the touch - it didn't register anything.

But - the touch is happily controlling lots of other devices - and the same flirc dongle can see an apple remote - so both ends seem to work alone - just not together.

I feel I'm missing something obvious (especially as I'm a new rpi user, a new rasplex user and a new flirc user) so any hints welcome ;)

I’ve noticed that a lot of people seem to have this problem. When I had it I ended up doing it the manual way. (Yes, I know other solutions work, but I don’t look around, I just fixed it and didn’t look back)

Since FLIRC doesn’t really care what type of remote you have, set your Touch up as any TV remote with lots of buttons (make sure it’s for a TV you don’t have in your setup, so it doesn’t conflict with your real TV - I used some random Panasonic) instead of a PLEX or XBMC device.

Make sure your buttons all have assigned actions in the harmony software and add any soft keys you want as long as they aren’t assigned to other buttons. (What they are doesn’t really matter as long as pressing it does something)

Plug the FLIRC dongle into your computer and just assign keyboard keys for each button action (https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201670487-Keyboard-Shortcuts).

The key is that FLIRC reads in an IR signal and then just converts it to whatever keyboard command you assign, so as long as you have IR commands that FLIRC can see you’re good to go.

I can't make it see the arrow buttons.

The programmer waits for me to send the flirc a signal but nothing arrives.

I know they work because they work with other devices. I know the flirc works because I can program non-harmony remotes onto it.

But I just can't get the two to play together.

I will go back and check to see if the harmony has anything mapped onto those keys.

What type of device is your harmony setup as? I had trouble with MCE, PLEX and XBMC remote profiles. The arrow buttons didn’t work or it pressed 2 different arrows at once.

Turned out that only generic TV remote IR commands really worked for me consistently.

I still cannot use the skipping and fast forward/rewind options at the top of the remote.

What profiles are you all using and how did you set them up?

Did you see my recent topic https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/174843/harmony-touch-remote-and-the-remotepi-board

If the Flirc can use any remote then try following the instructions, if not then I’ll see if I can get hold of one and sort this out.

Skip (both little and big) should be the left/right/up/down buttons when video is playing, that’s common to all remotes.
