Rasplex Skins

stupid question, but is the file there ? isn't there a right issue ?

if you copied over the skin with the root account , then you might need do do a chown, or a chmod -r 777 so that plex can open the files ...

Heh, first thing I checked :) The file isn't there, but it also isn't there on my Mac, where the same skin works fine with Plex HT. Permissions are also set appropriately.

I discovered this skin runs great on rasplex, it's very light and looks a bit like an Apple TV. Just place the unzipped folder in the ''add-on folder'' and everything should be fine.

Just a fool proof tutorial, this is how i did it:

1. Instal RasPlex with one of the official intrallers: http://rasplex.com/get-started/rasplex-installers.html

2. Follow the wizard for RasPlex the first time and make sure you enable ssh and set-up a network connection.

3. Once RasPlex is launched navigate to Prefferences, RasPlex Settings, Network tab and write down the ip adres.

4. Browse with your PC/MAC to: https://github.com/W...ally.quartz.pht, press 'the zip icon' and save the .zip file.

5. Unpack the .zip file, you should now see the skin folder.
6. Open your SSH client (i'm using transmit) and set-up an SFTP connection:

Adres: your ip adres (from step 3)

Login name: root

Password: rasplex

Port: 22

7. Navigate to: /.plexht/addons and move the downloaded skin folder from step 5.

8. Reboot your Raspberry Pi

9. Choose prefferences, appearance and choose the downloaded skin.

10. Have Fun!

Hop on over to https://github.com/sandman4sure/skin.refocus_for_plex_back_to_blue_edition/tree/plex_ht

Prepare to be blown away. Performs significantly better than the default skin, looks nicer, and is mostly bug free at this point. Love it :)

step by step how did you get this working?

step by step how did you get this working?

1. Download the skin from github. Be sure to download the `plex_ht` branch.

2. Zip or tar up the skin.

3. Copy the archived skin to your Pi using SCP or SFTP. I placed the file in `/tmp` since its writable by the `plexuser`.

4. SSH into the Pi and become root using `su`.

5. Move the skin archive into `~/.plexht/addons`

6. Untar/unzip the skin.

7. The skin should now appear in your skins list in your appearance preferences.

If this sounds too complicated for you, it probably is :)

I love it as well. Quick question - do you see the green unwatched icon on shows? If I can get that working, it's perfect :)

Well mediatstream is probably one of the slower existing skins because it's been patched over and over.

It nice to see that a lighter skin will perform well on pi even though there are still many things that will be improved in terms of performance. :D

media stream is nice but for some reason this is so much faster!  When are we getting channel support?

stupid question, how I unzip the .zip file?

I mean I already copy the file to the /.plexht/addons folder

I try to use the unzip command but nothing,

how you unzip the file inside the /.plexht/addons folder?

Looks like OpenELEC doesn't come with `unzip`. I actually created a `tar.gz` file, and then uncompressed it with `tar zxvf skin.tar.gz`

Thanks men, yeah openelec don't have zip/unzip and the apt-get are restricted, but it's ok, I get it!!

I got the skin installed and changed to it on my pi but when I try to enter my movie section or tv section I just get a black screen. Ant ideas?

Sounds like you didn't install the proper branch from git.

I used the plex home theater branch. My music and photo sections open just fine but the movie and tv show just go yo a black screen. I can exit back to the main menu with no problem.
