When using amber skin my pi just go into indefinite boot loop at the rasplex screen, the only thing to do is pull out the wifi adapter and once booted up change back to mediastream an insert the dongle and boot again.
when booted i can change to amber again until next freeze or reboot.

have the same issue with my rasplex running 0.2.2 and amber, doing a fresh install now to test it.
I just wanted to point out so long as you know the IP of your RasPlex you can do this entire process with WinSCP using SCP logging in as the root user (default password is rasplex)

No scary terminals required :)
I'm working on this but it seems that even when I login as "root"and "rasplex" I can not make or add a folder to the /usr/lib/plexhometheater/addons folder?

What do I need to do to get make it possible?
thanks,
THe root-filesystem is read-only. But you can use /storage/.plexht/addons/ too.
Last night I installed Refocus (Black to Blue Edition) on my RasPlex as I have done several times before. The one difference this time was that as soon as I switched to Refocus, RasPlex rebooted (not the Pi, just RasPlex). It did this every time, booting back to MediaStream.
Anyone else having trouble with this?
Has something changed in the last versions of Refocus (plex_ht) or RasPlex to prompt this?
I succeeded in getting Alaska on Rasplex. I love this skin because it is AFAIK the only skin with a bright look. However there is one problem: i see no fanart and that is where the (Mac) Alaska skin is so good looking.
Is this missing in the HT version?
Is there a similar (bright) skin that does show the fan art?
(I have just started, so sorry if this is the wrong place or if this is already answered but I did not find it).
i was trying to load the "amber" skin. i had 2.1 installed and had a recent power outage that seemed to corrupt something in the filesystem so rasplex would not boot... seemed like a good time to start this project.
the usb power supply i was using has a big blue LED on it which is annoying so i bought a new one (5V 1A)that doesn't have any LEDs.
switched over the power supply, wiped my SD card, loaded 2.2 on it... and i got stuck at the welcome screen - couldn't do anything... no remote responses, no keyboard responses, nothing.
turns out the pi doesn't really like those new power adapters i bought. switched back to the old one with the bright LED and its working fine. : /
installed 2.1 again after a format. could not SSH into the pi... tried everything i could find in the forums (ssh is enabled at install time, cannot disable it after reboot. ssh is in the cmd arguments).
finally went and wiped 2.1 and loaded 2.2. everything went without a hitch. got it on there, got SSH access, got the 'amber' skin loaded.
so far, so good. its running great. i really feel like the interface is a little crisper than media stream.
all i have really done so far is configure everything with the settings and open up the list of All Movies. i'll try it more in depth later to see if i run into any problems.
Please someone let me know if this is common knowledge because I am admittedly a noob when it comes to all things plex.
I have been using refocus back to blue for a while with great results but was a bit disappointed at the lack of variety with the themes provided. I then found refocus big which has 17 different themes and other skin options that refocus back to blue was lacking. Unfortunately this skin caused a bootloop for me. Then while copying refocus back to blue onto my pi I noticed that in the media folder there were several .xbt files with the same names as the themes. Just for S$*#! and giggles I put the .xbt file of the theme I liked from refocus big via filezilla into the media of refocus back to blue. Rebooted my pi and sure enough there it was. I restarted it again to make sure there was no boot loop and there was no issue.
One other tweak I have found that has really improved my experience is in refocus under skin settings it allows you to set your own slideshow folder for the home screen. I quickly went through my fanart folder on the machine running PMS and gathered up all the TV show and Movie fanart that I liked and copied it into the download folder on plex. Now instead of stuttering every time I scroll down from section to section it just smoothly transitions the pictures every 15 sec in my case but this can be modified in the settings as well.
So which works? Unzipped or zipped folder in add-ons? And once it is there do I just reboot and go to settings/appearance/skins or somewhere else? I’ve gotten the Unzipped folders in a folder called skins of the add on directory but they aren’t showing up.
I've tried everything I can think of and I can't make it work. I tried dropping and unzipped skin folder (from the plex ht fork) into storage/plexht/addons. even tried storage/plexht/addons/skins (folder I made). Rebooted pi and nothing shows up. Tried to find it using Confluence skin and I get nada. BTW I'm a Plexpass user but don't have a fancy badge.
To the developers: Rasplex is amazing! It's way better than Raspbmc. I love that mine simply finds my media on my network and direct plays it without me having to do a thing. I've never used XBMC prior to my Pi simply because I have roku boxes in my house that don't play with XBMC. So I don't know how to add remote files or anything.
I came here because, while I don't know what I'm doing, I can Google with the best of them. I just can't figure this out. I really just want the fastest skin available that finds my media. Confluence requires me to add it best I can tell, and I don't want that. I want something like Media skin but much faster.
My ultimate dream would be a Rasplex that could import pseudotv in some way. I've never got that to work but the idea of simply pressing a channel and my media be playing on it's own is awesome. Me and the wife killed 30 minutes just browsing last night!
just wanted to add my two cents to this thread -

Have you upgraded to 0.3.1 and got latest version of Amber running on that, I tried but have the reboot loop problem?
I tried to select MediaStream instead but it wouldn't work properly.
I solved this by copying the skin.mediastream folder from my pc to /storage/.plexht/addons on the pi.
So now MediaStream Is working fine, but in the new plex skin on Rasplex there is options for precaching and auto updates, which are obviously missing from MediaStream.
I was wondering if some clever Skinner / Modder fancied trying to add the MediaPreview view (like above) to the new plex skin ?
Or if someone could point me in the right direction, I will have a go myself
I've been trying out the RC with the new Plex skin and I don't think it's a skin particularly well suited to low-powered devices like the Pi. Navigating the home screen is fine, but applying filters and the like in the TV Shows and Movies screens is just too slow and frustrating.
For now, I've been using the Mediastream skin (same install method as treboR2Robert above) and having a list view of the filters before displaying the media is far faster and more efficient. List views also perform better for the actual media, especially when banners are not involved.
Hopefully some enterprising skin modder can develop a fork of MediaStream specifically for Rasplex. And ideally add in some missing features like the Queuing / Autoplay abilities offered by the latest PMS!
Other than MediaStream, I really like Simplex.e; the performance on the Pi is admirable. But I would still prefer to see both Recently Added and On Deck on the screen at the same time.
