RC4 doesn't cache at all during playback

Hi,

Since RC4 Rasplex doesn't cache at all during playback. The information screen shows "cache: 0 B 0%" constantly.

This happens even during direct play. I've flashed 2 different cards and it's a consistent problem. I'm seeing stuttering during playback and I assume that this is the cause.

I've adjusted the cache to the maximum allowable.

RC3 works fine, caching normally, on the same machine so it seems to be a RC4 problem. Unfortunately RC3 randomly freezes during playback so I'm really keen to get RC4 running; it seems much better in most respects.

I've searched for any information on this but there's not much to be found. Any help is appreciated.

RC4 isn't using that cache, it is using a different one.  Stuttering during playback indicates either a network issue, a transcoding issue or trying to play back high bitrate content (somewhere around 20Mbit) without overclocking the Pi.

Can you give the MediaInfo output for the video that is stuttering?  Are you using wired or wifi?  What version of Plex Media Server are you using, and on what platform / machine?

Thanks for that input. It's really useful. I'll look at the network and overclocking and report back if it goes nowhere. I generally like to diagnose problems myself but I'm finding a real shortage of documentation.

Cheers,

Mike
