Re-adding my Local Media Server to my existing Plex account

Well since I had a power outage and the following items all WORK!

  1. Local Server
  2. Network
  3. Nothing changed on the two firewalls I have - Plex worked fine before the power outage
  4. Server was up-to-date on patches and firmware
  5. Plex software was up to date (CENTOS 7.X - running 1.26.2.5797

YET your Plex network refused or was refused from seeing my server. I add the port forwarding as I was instructed to. To no avail. So I read I could remove my media server then reapply it… without issues. Only one slight problem. There is NO MEANS OF REAPPLY OR ADDING A MEDIA SERVER ANYWHERE THAT I CAN SEE!!! You are only shown where you can download the server software. Which I already have and running… YET There is NO OPTIONS on Plex to add this media server. Folks I call BS on this. You used to have a very smooth and easy solution… then you screwed it up. WHY IS THERE NO MEANS TO RE APPLY A MEDIA SERVER - EVEN when your instructions states when you delete the media server it will be REAPPLIED to your account if you add it back… YET no where is there any data on how to re-add my Media server. I am a lifetime member and to me… this is piss poor and truly is a pain. A simple power outage should not bring down my complete PLEX environment… but it did. Can someone point me to the hidden instructions on how to add a fully setup and running Linux Media Server to the Current version of Plex… THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!

If the server is unclaimed all you have to do is log into it.

You will need to re-claim the server.

Make sure the Plex Media Server is running.

Point a browser at your server: http://server_ip_address:32400/web. If you are on the server console, you can use http://127.0.0.1:32400/web.

Gentlemen,

The problem is CLEARLY on the Plex side. I have the server up-to-date and loaded. I have the firewall (both of them) open to the proper TCP 32400 and 32401 ports. I cannot get to http://127.0.0.1:32400/web or the same command with the server IP. This USED TO WORK!!! Nothing changed on this end but a power outage… not I cannot get to plex… strange. I doubt a power outage changed ports on firewalls. I just don’t get this. Everything on this end is running as it should. I will try to remove both firewalls from the path… and it that does not work… there is something wrong on your end. There will be nothing blocking the traffic from this end.

If you suffered the power outage, and the rest of us are still working …

Please do the following.

  1. Stop PMS
  2. make a tar.gz of the Logs directory and of your Preferences.xml.
  3. I will send you a PM so you may attach that tar.gz in private.

I expect to find:

  1. Damaged database
    -or-
  2. Damaged Preferences.xml file
