I had Plex server setup and would play my locally stored movies. I hadn’t used it in a while and my son wanted to watch something from our Apple TV. Plex loaded but no local movies were available. I checked on the server and I can’t add anything to +Your Media. When I go there it says Add your media to Plex, a blurb and then a button saying Get Plex Media Server. I already have it, and this message appears inside of it. I’ve reinstalled Plex, I’ve uninstalled Plex and reinstalled and its the same thing over and over. I’m running this on Ubuntu 22.04. When I run sudo systemctl status plexmediaserver, it says that it’s Active (running). So what gives?

I followed the instructions and edited the Preferences file. When I opened the web app, I had to log in but still no change. Also while reading to try and figure this out, I kept seeing references to a setup wizard. How do I run that? I can’t find anything referencing it in the actual web app.
Are you accessing the web app at plex.tv or by the server ip address?

It sounds like your server has went into an unclaimed state

Sorry for the delay in replying. After installing Plex, I got a menu item under Multimedia called Plex Media Server. I us this but I’ve also tried using the server IP address as you mentioned above. They both take me to the same thing.
I hate running scripts downloaded from the internet but will take a look at this. Thanks for the tip.
That script is from ChuckPa. He’s a Plex team member and heavily involved here in the forums.
I looked the code over and didn’t see anything objectionable with it. I worked. I now can use my Media Server again. Thank you so much.
