Your media

Server Version#1.67
New PC and trying to get access to my media again.
Installed Plex server but when I go to “your media” to add my local folders it just takes me to a page saying “download Plex Media Server.” I can’t find a way out of this loop.

Help please!

What OS?

  • Type http://127.0.0.1:32400/web into the address bar

or

Try these options and see if it will let you claim the server

Windows 11
http://127.0.0.1:32400/web opens the media server but I still can’t add any local folders

Were you given the option to claim the server?

You have no option to add any media or you have the option it’s just not finding your files?

You can try to use this. It will unclaim and reclaim the server if that’s where you’re hung up

no option offered to reclaim server.

The server I have installed has all the online options just when I try and add the local stuff it prompts to download the media server - which is what I am using in the first place.

I’ll try the unclaim reclaim thing

Which inexplicably worked - definitely don’t see the logic in why it did

Thanks for the help

Ok good.
A couple things as you add the libraries.

Under settings –> library
You should switch these to “as a scheduled task” or just turn them off
If you have a large amount of media this will take forever to scan

Also, when you create the library go into the advanced menu and choose TVDB if you prefer to name your shows according to that database. TMDB is the default.

That way you don’t have to add everything then refresh the metadata again after everything is done scanning

You may already know this if you’re not a new user, just thought I’d mention it
