Hello,
I know that Plex can read posters, banners, and other basic artwork that’s stored in the media folders themselves. I also know that Plex can create advanced thumbnails so that it’s easier to “seek” (fwd/rev) though media and see where the media’s current state is and, when Plex creates them, these typically “live” somewhere in the PMS install folders (as opposed to the media folders).
What I’m wondering is, if they thumbnails already exist (like posters, banners and other artwork) in the media folders themselves, can Plex just use these thumbnails like they would the ones they would extract/create? I can’t see why this wouldn’t be possible, especially since Plex can already do this for other types of artwork. Is there any special setting that I need to have in place for this to work? For instance, do I turn off/on thumbnail creation? Is there a place to “tell” Plex to use the thumbnails in the media folders or will it do it automatically? Thanks so much in advance!
