Just started happening but I can’t tell if the client or app updated recently, the server did not. Media doesn’t matter. Feels like an app memory issue because I noticed the menu is sluggish too and if the app crashes everything is back to normal.
Server Version#: 1.18.6.2368
Player Version#: 7.29.1.1.16015
It is still early alpha and has other issues being worked through I’m sure you won’t want to deal with either. But I did not have issues with stuttering on 7.28 or 7.29 so I can’t say it will fix that for you.
I would check if there are any differences if refresh or resolution switching is enabled.
I’m having the same issue. It seems to be a memory leak because you can “fix” the problem by double tapping the home button, killing Plex, and then starting it up again. That buys you about 15 minutes of stutter free playback, but then it slowly starts creeping back in until it’s unwatchable.
I also noticed that if I killed Plex, opened it to an episode selection screen (didn’t play) and waited about 15 minutes and then hit play, it would immediately have the stuttering issue. So it seems to be something with the menu or something in the background of the app that is eating all the resources and it’s not just the “video player” portion causing the issue.
Same issue here and definitely something with the latest experience update. Started after installing that, now Plex stutters after 10-15 mins. Kill Plex then start again and it plays normally for 10-15min again. The whole shield menu gets slow when it happens too so does seem to indicate a memory issue. Hopefully that 7.30 update is released soon cause it’s completely unuseable like this.
On a side note, some kind of rollback option would be nice. This isn’t the first experience update to break the shield for a few weeks while we wait for the next update.
