I am trying to understand the sort order for this area. I added a new movie today and it’s showing as the 3rd recently movie added. The 1st and 4th movies are showing were not added recently, I have no idea why it thinks those movies were recently added.
Also when I manually scan the library it does not refresh screen for recently added content. How long does it take to scan the library? I really feel there should be indicator somewhere to show the progress of the scan.
For the second question, try going to Settings and click on Alerts. I can usually find a bit more detailed info on what Plex is looking at there. It’s right under Dashboard, if you get to the dashboard from the heartbeat icon in the upper right corner.
For the first question, it may be a corrupt date for when the file was added. I’ve heard of someone who had a movie that Plex thought was added far in the future. Since its date was higher than the current date, it stayed at the front of the “recently added” section. Try to plex dance the file to clear that up.
It’s interesting, I use a Shield Pro and that client does not show the progress of scanning the media. If I use the browser on my Windows PC a circle spins in the upper right area to show the scanning is doing something. So at least I know it takes under a minute to scan my library.
You are correct the two titles that were shown in the recently added movies have dates in the future! I fixed the dates on the NAS server and was hoping a scan would take care of it.
I don’t have easy access to my Windows server to try the Plex Dance procedure. The keyboard is not working, it’s a Logitech with integrated mouse pad on the keyboard. The keyboard has to be on top of the PC to work, the range for some odd reason is like 1 foot. I’m going to try another Logitech dongle when I get a chance, I hope it’s the dongle and not the keyboard.
In the mean time I backed up the two movies and then removed them with Plex. Hopefully that clears the metadata for those two movies and I can add them back in later on with the correct dates.
Yes, the dance is basically just moving the movies out of the folder that is indexed by Plex, doing a scan (so plex finds they are gone and trashes them) and then re-adding them (and another scan to find them). Might also need to empty trash after the first scan, maybe not. I haven’t seen a need for that, but I have media on built-in drives, not externals, which might have odd rules on trash.
