Hi, I have the HDHomerun connect, and Plex Media Server running on a Mac mini, I’ve noticed recordings don’t look good, like the interlaced video hasn’t been flattened to progressive. Are there any settings I can change to make them look better. It’s particularly noticeable when watching sports.
Settings/Live TV & DVR/Click the Settings gear/ Then turn on the transcoder or Process the video while recording. Either might solve your interlacing.
James - I used to be able to find the ‘process video’ checkbox, but now I can’t. I’ve got 1.7.6 and HDHR Extend tuners. None of the gear icons display that choice, but I know I’ve seen it before.
Nope. I don’t see that choice anymore. I did downgrade to ‘Highest Quality’ from ‘Original’. Seems a little better. More testing required.
Thanks, it looks better now I think, only managed to test it quickly. Obviously now I have a massive amount of cpu usage while transcoding. Is there a way to limit cpu usage?

lmolter, I cannot upgrade past 1.6.1 because of recording issues, but this is what I see:
I believe 1.7.6 reverted back to recording in mpeg2 TS because of some other underlying issues for the time being.
So watching the F1 Qualifying that was recorded today still has this jagged interlace look despite having the option mentioned above checked. Here are some close up screenshots while paused.
It seems that setting the transcoder quality down a notch to High from Original made all the difference. I can watch recordings with interlacing almost gone. Caveat: These shows were broadcast at 720p. I had the most problems with 1080p shows but I haven’t recorded (or needed ) one lately.
