Been using Plex for a while now but the issue still persists. When I record TV (via NPVR) and have Plex scan the TV Recordings folder, video preview thumbnails are only generated for the first few minutes. Unfortunately, as the recording progresses , Plex doesn’t/cant keep up with the recording and thumbnails aren’t generated…which makes the whole point of them useless.
However, what I’ve been doing is having NPVR record to a separate folder and when the recordings are complete, I move them to the TV Recordings folder that Plex monitors. Only when I do this are the thumbnails completely generated for the entire show.
While this is a work-around, it prohibits viewing the program via Plex until the recording is complete. It would be nice to just start watching while the recording is still in progress but Plex won’t create the thumbnails then.
Any solutions?
