I’ve noticed some NFL games on our local FOX affiliate are not getting recorded. I see they are not showing up on the Recording Schedule screen. There is a 10am Cowboys/Rams game that is airing per TitanTV and the local FOX (Q13 Seattle) website, but the Recording Schedule only shows the Ravens/Steelers game at 10am on CBS. I do see the Cowboys/Rams game listed in the NFL Football show list of episodes to record. I also checked next Sunday, we are supposed to have a morning and afternoon game on FOX according to TitanTV and Comcast’s guide, but neither show up in the Recording Schedule of Plex.
I’ve even tried to refresh the program guide. Also it should be noted that i have the WinTV-quadHD so there shouldn’t be a recording conflict issue, and Recording Priority has NFL Football at the top of the list. What logs should i investigate?
I think I found the issue! Even though the program is in HD and on an HD channel, it was tagged as an SD show for whatever reason. So my “Only record HD shows” selection in the series recording prevented it from getting recorded. Any idea where these incorrect SD tags are coming from?
Switch your NFL to ANY RESOLUTION and it will always choose the HD if available.
For me however NFL recording on Plex is still hit or miss. It doesn’t handle OT games or 2nd games when the first takes longer then expected and the schedule is pushed back.
Actually NFL games can foobar anything like 20/20 or 60 minutes (whatever) that comes on after a game. The EPG needs “dynamic” updating on channels with NFL games to check to see if the games are running behind schedule.
3 days ago the Green Bay Packers’ vs Chicago Bears game had a 45 minute delay due to lightning which delayed the game which is unusual for NFL games but that wacked the schedule badly.
MLB suffers from game delays as well.
You can tell the Plex DVR programmers aren’t sports nuts.
I’ve been a TiVo supporter and user from the very beginning and I’ve never seen a dynamic updating for the EPG for sports.
Do the safe thing and extend the recording by like an hour or two (I’ll do the 2 during hockey the hockey playoffs). With Plex it’s easy to cut the video down to the actual time when needed.
I hit another snag tonight with the Colts vs Seahawks game on NBC.
Plex has the show marked with a red circle if I look at it in Discovery.
If I look at it in Recording Schedule it didn’t show up and if I look at HDHomeRun Tuner Status there is no tuner in use.
I kill the recording and try and set it up again and it won’t record.
I then go in and watch the channel live (HDHomeRun Tuner Status shows it tuned to channel of course) and I can view the game. I click the recording icon in the web interface and then switch to watching something else live and check the Tuner Status again and no tuner on NBC.
I shutdown and restart server and try steps above again and nothing. No matter what I can’t schedule or live record it but can watch it live.
Plex and NFL just doesn’t want to work well for me.
