Recordings not recording

I’m having issues getting the dvr to record new shows. Others have posted about this and I guess it may be related to the EPG issue, but I am not having issues downloading my guide.

In the last week my recordings for “series” is hit and miss on whether they record or not. I have tried to remove and add the series back, but the show is still not scheduled. It does not seem to matter if I choose “only new” or “all”.

Below is an example of trying to set up the Big Bang Theory which has a new episode this week.

I looked at the media logs and found that (1) some of the new shows were discarded as not new, and (2) the ones it found as being new were linked to a channel I don’t have. They should be linked to OTA channel 8.1, but it has channel 34 for some reason.

I’m currently running version 1.13.2.5102, and have tried upgrading to versions 1.15.1.707 and 1.15.1.710.

here are my full logs of me trying to add the season recording.
PLEX_Media_log.zip (5.0 KB)

EDIT: even if I choose to record all shows the I still see the “is an old airing, ignoring.” status.

For anyone interested, I was able to fix this by reinstalling windows, then reinstalling PLEX from scratch. My assumption is something was corrupt with the PLEX install and just uninstalling the PS and reinstalling it didn’t work. Obviously removing the PS doesn’t remove everything to PLEX. I’m sure I could have figured out how to delete it all manually, but I took this opportunity to upgrade my OS from Win7 to Win10. The downside is starting from scratch, but at least it’s working.

I guess I spoke too soon. The recordings first appeared to be set up correctly, but when I turned on one of those shows last night after it had been on for 15 min already it wasn’t being recorded. I looked at the current dvr schedule and about half of the series that were scheduled are gone.

Does anyone know if this is related to the known EPG guide issue or if it’s related to a particular release of PLEX?

I, too, am seeing issues with “New Recordings Only.” My nightly news didn’t start recording until I switched to recording all airings…

thanks hawkinsb . I tried changing it to record all when it was on Win7 and it was still skipping my recordings. I will try updating it again on my Win10 installation and post the results.

Do you know if this starting happening after you upgraded something (OS/PLEX/etc) or if it just started happening on it’s own?

I think it started happening with the latest Plex server update on the beta channel…

Were you guys able to get this resolve? This just started cropping up on me

It hasn’t happened to me since March…

I no longer have the issue, it started working after applying one of the server upgrades. I’m currently using version 1.15.4.994-107756f7e.

Thanks I’m running 1.15.6.1079, I’ll have to look again tonight to see if it’s still an issue

Come to think of it, I actually upgraded my OS from Win 7 to 10 and reinstalled PLEX to resolve this. Sorry… Funny how things like that fade from memory. I doubt the OS upgrade was necessary for the fix. Since the recording wasn’t working I was going to uninstall/reinstall PLEX and figured I’d get them both done. And I checked and I’m also on version 1.15.6.1079.

(edit)
Re-reading my past post’s it seems I tried just uninstalling/reinstalling PLEX on my Win 7 and it didn’t resolve it. That’s when I decided to upgrade to Win 10.
