Reformatting of Photos and Videos possible?

I am using Plex Server - latest version - on a Synology DS416 system. Client is pre-installed on my TV Box to access Plex Media Server.

Everything works fine so far. The only question I havIe. My TV is capable of showing 1080x786 while a lot of pictures are made with much higher resolution. Is there a way that Plex Server is changing the resolution on the fly to the end-device, in my case the Philips TV I have?

Plex should be doing this by default whenever the client cannot deal with the media as-is.
