Refresher : Purpose of On Deck

Maybe a dumb question but will ask anyway. What is the intended purpose of On Deck ? Has the functionality changed over time ?

I have unwatched episodes in my On Deck making it look similar to Recently Added. Is On Deck trying to be smart showing the next episode in shows I am watching?

On deck is used as a shortcut for 2 things.

Continue watching partially watched movies and tv show episodes.

Listing the next episode of your recently watched tv shows.

‘Continue Watching’ is a separate thing.

‘On Deck’ shows you the next episode of a tv show if you
have already watched an episode of that show, sometime in the past.

This is nothing new… On deck shows you the next episodes in shows you are watching…

He said it was a separate thing. He also said it is part of on deck.

But it’s not. “Continue Watching” is not a separated section of “On Deck”, it’s a completely separated section and in most players is rendered differently too (i.e. in PMP 1.x on deck is large and small posters, continue watching is thumbnails with progress bar)

Well I stayed with PHT and it is a part of on deck. Maybe you are correct now since Plex dumped its GUI in the trash - truly sad to see their approach is now to congest your interface with BS recommendations and other noise instead of the logical choices like “Continue Watching”.

Anyways, glad I don’t know any better.
