"Refreshing EPG" extremely slow?

It’s been about an hour so far (I’m in Brisbane, Australia), and it’s only on 8%. How long is this supposed to take? It took a few minutes to get the channel list originally.

Also, a side question, I presume I’m supposed to navigate watching shows through the “Program Guide” tab? That’s the recommended way to browse TV? Thanks.

There have been several changes in recent updates to the server software relating to EPG refresh
Please upgrade your server to current beta - 1.12.3.4973 and retry the refresh

Understand your issue, Sunshine Coast here. Turn off Enhanced Progame Guide at this point has no advantage to the EPG.

It’s faster now, but still extremely slow 10-15 minutes and at 27%, I’m on a 100mbit connection. What sort of amount of time should it take? If it’s out of the ordinary I’ll post logs where you mentioned. As for the enhanced program guide, I like what it does pull in (I’m getting posters on the beta I believe, unless it’s only for TV shows?), so I’d prefer not to disable it if possible. By the way, one thing you should probably be aware of, when watching the percentage it jumps from 8% to 7%, and 14% to 13%, 20% to 19% and so forth. Not sure if this is because I have two HDHomeRun devices, or if it’s a bug, but I thought I’d let you know. Thanks.

Can you expand on what you see as extras with enhanced program guide? I can not differentiate with my guide.

Perhaps my understanding of what it does is wrong, but I presumed it was for the show descriptions and posters? If not, I’ll try disabling it. Thanks.

The update to 1.12.3.4973 included correction that came in the beta version before it which makes correct use of cache in the server and reduces the external requests

That’s good it has been identified, the next few Server releases with fixes are going to be awesome. Well done everyone.

It doesn’t look like this issue was ever fixed. It’s almost a year later… on Server Version 1.14.1.5488. Its still extremely slow to download guide data. I’m on a 300Mbps Internet connection. I can download almost 100GB’s of compressed data in the time it takes to download Plex guide data. The data is just text (maybe logo images)… even a 56Kbps dialup modem should be able to download all this in less than five minutes.

If your looking at the original program guide, you are correct if many channels are selected.

I find a walk away, it works and is not an issue. Each to thee own.

How long is it taking?

It’s not just downloading text, obviously, there is processing involved,

It took roughly 30-40 minutes. Not a huge deal… since it seems to only take this long for the first time it downloads the guide data.

Correct the first after adding a DVR will take quite a bit longer than subsequent updates…
