Refreshing metadata on individual TV shows - omg so hard

Hello. There are two parts to this. One is making sure the TV Show scanning agent settings in your TV Library are correctly using TVDB. The second part is getting Plex to forget about your TV Series and erase everything it knows about it, then add the show back in.

Part One: TV Show Agent Settings

Part Two: The Plex Dance
The trick to getting Plex to completely forget about a TV series is to use The Plex Dance ™ on the whole series main folder. That will make it do a really real refresh, where all the local cached information gets deleted.

Let’s say I have several libraries,

/share/media/films
/share/media/tv
/share/media/music

and let’s say that inside my TV library I have several series like this:

/share/media/tv/American Experience
/share/media/tv/American Masters
/share/media/tv/Blue Planet II

and let’s say I’m having problems with American Masters. It may be possible to just Plex Dance a few problem episodes, but it’s much better to Plex Dance the whole series and get it sorted once and for all. That means I would move the entire American Masters directory somewhere Plex can’t ever find it, way outside its directory structure. I might move it to here:

/usr/local/plexbackups/American Masters

So these would be my steps, as described in The Plex Dance.

  1. Move the American Masters out of the way.
  2. Scan Library Files
  3. Empty Trash
  4. Clean Bundles
  5. Move the American Masters directory back into /share/tv/
  6. Scan Library Files

Note that when it says “Empty Trash” it means the menu item to do so within Plex, not your desktop one.

Let me know how it works.
