Regional versions of the same show?

I’m having trouble adding all the different “versions” of a TV show that airs in different regions under the same name. Each regional version of the show is unique (has its own seasons and episodes) but shares the same name. Plex seems to be merging them all together and I’m not sure how to pull them back apart.

Any suggestions for getting each one to show up individually? Thanks!

You can only receive Channels that your antenna get signal.

This can vary in some locations that relay signals from a large city to a satellite town.

I’m attempting to add shows that I have stored locally on my Plex Media Server within my TV library. Each one has unique metadata and is stored in a unique directory ({SHOW_NAME} {COUNTRY}) but Plex by default is merging them into one show listing in the library.

When recording you can set a Library for a recording from Grid view. If you Create the amount of Channel TV Libraries be it 1A,2A,3A as an example these will appear in drop down menus. You will also have to create different storage directories for each Channel Library, which you have already done. If you wish to edit there data that can be done post and transfer them to main TV Library. I do this with new movies, Library called Discovery. After they have been watched it is decided if purged or kept and possibly added to Main Movie Library. These Channel Libraries need not be pinned and can be ranked low on side menu.

Look up the show at TheTVDB. If there are several versions of the same show title, they are usually distinguished by a suffix like “(US)” “(2013)” or something like that.
Then rename the top folder of your show after this title,
Then perform the Plex Dance

In some cases, you still have to use ‘Fix Match’ (only on the top level of the show, not on individual episodes or seasons!).
You can use the exact show title as search term or you can use the unique “Series ID” number of the show that’s used on TheTVDB website.
e.g. 74850 for this show: https://www.thetvdb.com/series/supernanny-us

In some rare cases, you’ll have to use ‘Split’ before ‘Fix Match’ (again, only on the top level of a show).

Thanks Otto! This is exactly the kind of information I was looking for.

The show does have distinct entries on TV DB and my directory structure matches the naming used. The directories have always been named this way yet Plex has merged them into one. Is the “Plex Dance” still the right way to resolve this? Where do I find more information about “split” and “fix match”?

Thanks, Otto! This is exactly what I needed and it seems to have resolved the issue

If the ‘annoyance’ of the way Plex handles ‘Merged/Split’ items irritates (you’ll find out soon by starting playback - then halting it in progress after 2 minutes) - Fix Match/Search Options - select TMDB for the one that’s listed there (fingers crossed), and TVDB for the other one.

Plex now thinks they’re two shows/movies - not two Merged/Split shows/movies. This work-around is limited by the available agents - 3 (if you use Personal Media as one of them) is normally all you get.
