[REL] YouTube Metadata Agent

@KaraokeAmerica and @metzhomelab I am being told on the GitHUB that Plex Server beta version 1.32.1.6999 fixes the problem. The agent just stopped scanning a couple of days ago. · Issue #128 · ZeroQI/YouTube-Agent.bundle · GitHub

Update: The person on github who stated this resolves it (which it appears it has fixed mine also) posted this on the plex forums. 1.32.x Breaks Plugins on Windows (OpenSSL)

Tested and confirmed.

Yep, it is working for me as I setup a new Plex library and it is scanning items correctly like it was before.

Update: everything is scanning in correctly, like these last three weeks were just a bad memory. Will note, you might need to setup a brand new library with the Youtube agent and using TV Show or Movies library (depending the content) to get things to scan back in correctly, but all my things are scanning in like they should be and the metadata is working to sort by release date correctly.

@jrmars07, Did you every find a solution to the date off by 1 error? I’m running into the same exact issue

Unfortunately not. And I have been pretty sidetracked and haven’t come back to it. Let me know if you find anything in your effort though!

I tested it and it seems that all agents except Plex TV Series can get the correct date.

I’ve tried with multiple Scanners and the YouTube metadata agent. For the Absolute Series Scanner that youtube metadata recommends I can see it grabbing and setting the correct date. So the issue seems to lie somewhere between the agents and scanners.

Something else interesting is the Tautulli recently added notification will display the correct episode name from the metadata even though Plex can’t seem to find it

I am having a new scanning issue that I THINK is a PMS problem. I am not sure though so I am linking it here just in case…

If anyone has any suggestions they are appreciated!

EDIT: this morning this is working again with no other effort on my part. I think it’s safe to say that it’s NOT an agent issue.

Thanks!

Does anyone have this currently working with tube sync for news style series? I’d love to hear your setup!

I recently moved away from the metadata agent and started embedding the metadata into the mp4 with yt-dlp. Saything that, the meta agent does work. I used it for years, I just figured removing a link in the chain was probably for the best looking at how Plex is evolving.

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, I used to use the binhex docker image but now using the offical Plexinc image and cant get the YouTube agent to show up for TV Show libraries. I have deleted and reinstalled all Plugins even tried using the files I used for my old setup still no agent.

Hey everyone,

I’m at my wit’s end with this issue.

I’m using youtube-dlp to download some YouTube channels with the following argument:

--output "/downloads/%(uploader)s [youtube-%(channel_id)s]/%(playlist_title|Playlists)s [youtube-%(playlist_id|)s]/%(uploader)s - %(title)s [%(id)s].%(ext)s"

This means my folder structure includes the channel ID and, if it’s a playlist, also the playlist ID.

The Issue

The problem is that Plex is inconsistent in recognizing YouTube channels. Some channels work fine, while others don’t get recognized at all.

What I’ve Tried So Far

I’ve attempted everything I can think of, including:

  • The Plex Dance (removing & re-adding media)
  • Deleting the Metadata folder for TV Shows
  • Recreating the entire library
  • Forcing metadata scans
  • Repairing the Plex database
  • Removing plugin/packages
  • Updating ASS and the YouTube Agent to the latest versions

Still No Luck

Despite all of this, the issue persists. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this or how to fix it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

same problem… any fix for this that you know of?..
thank you

Did anyone else’s Youtube metadata stop scanning today? I noticed as of 6 hours ago, no recent Youtube videos have metadata. Doing a refresh metadata doesn’t appear to be working either. I am running on a Windows 11 Pro machine Plex server 1.41.7.9799

Hey @ZeroQI,

With the release of the new MetadataAgent subsystem do you know if you will be updating this MetadataAgent? No pressure, just wondering if I should start looking for an alternate solution now or wait for you to release something?

Thanks
