[RELEASE] OpenPHT 1.6.0

I get crashes when trying to play certain videos from channel directories, namely South Park.

I modified the default skin, is there anyway to quickly see what has changed in the default skin between 1.52 and 1.60 ?

You can use the following git command to get the full diff:

git diff v1.5.2.514-310d4f7e..v1.6.0.113-46fadd5e addons/skin.plex/

Thanks. I will use that.

I have to ask what’s the new Music OSD ? I’ve not used regularly default skin, but going back and forth between the older versions and 1.60 version, I dont see any difference.

Amazing work! Thank you guys for keeping pht going!

Will try building on Ubuntu!

Great work guys, just checked the Windows 10 version. Especially love the 16-235 limited RGB setting right in OpenPHT, that’s a better solution than hacking it in xorg.conf!

Anyone has seen this issue ?

When using time seek - forward or back - the time seek bar stays in view and doesnt go away.

EDIT: Strange, after a reboot this issue is gone…

Fantastic work! I’ve been waiting and hoping for an OpenHT release that would play HEVC without transcoding! I tested a few files and they played flawlessly. I did have 2 requests/concerns:

The HEVC files I tested are typically encoded as AAC 5.1. Is there any way to enable transcoding of AAC to AC3, a format my A/V Receiver can playback as DD5.1? I know there’s a setting in Kodi/Jarvis that allows for this, is it possible to integrate that option into this or a future build?

Can you guys include an option to play the next video in the series back automatically for “binge watching”?

Keep up the great work!!

Change the ‘Number of channels’ option to 2.0 and the option to ‘Enable Dolby Digital transcoding’ should appear.

Similar feature request exists in the backlog, see Auto advance to next episode in season · Issue #479 · RasPlex/RasPlex · GitHub

Thanks for the great work, but after installing this on my win 10 machine - i no longer get an subtitles - they are enabled but just do not show. I have fully uninstalled and reinstalled with no effect.

Cheers

This worked perfectly, thanks.

I just tested it and I have no issues with enabling/disabling subtitles in windows 10 with this latest build. Also ran it on a windows 7 NUC and no issues there either.

There is a new problem: the iOS Plex app no longer works as a remote control to control any of the OpenHT 1.6.0 clients. Half the time it won’t show up as a player, and other times even when it shows up, pushing the remote control buttons do not work.

That fixed it. remote works perfect now.

This seems to be random - one time the bar closes normal, the other it just stays there.

I wanted to tack on to what bellicus said. I had trouble with most of my anime that use soft subs. I think they are almost all ass/ssa type. i tried a uninstall and reinstall, and produced the same issue. I then tried my copy of star wars which has srt and that showed up fine. I have since switched back to 1.52 which works fine. Hope it can be fixed cause I’m really excited about the x265 support.

This is buggy as hell.

Flinging from a browser no longer works correctly. The video will not start playing and the browser is just stuck with the spinning circle.

The app will inexplicably decide to switch screens randomly (I run PHT/OpenPHT on a second monitor).

Time to roll back to 1.5.x

Very nice update. The new OpenPHT skin looks looks very nice as well though I’m still using Aeon Nox. Thanks the Skinner for updating it as well. I’ve noticed and it’s a new experience for me that just started. When fast forwarding a video, it get very pixelated, then fine after that.

Skipping forwards or backwards during playback is less responsive that previous version. Was almost instantaneous previously but now slight delay and it pops up “SEEKING” while it’s working it out. Not a huge deal but a step in the wrong direction I think.

Love the rest !!!

You can change the Playback -> Advanced video -> Skip delay option in Preferences to 0 ms to get back the old instant seeking behavior, default in 1.6 is to use adaptive seeking where if you repeatedly press skip forward/backwards within 750 ms the seek time will advance in steps of 30s, 1m, 2m, 3m, 5m+ until you finally stop

Great - thanks Kwiboo

See Plex companion app connection issues · Issue #69 · RasPlex/OpenPHT · GitHub for a workaround

Please explain when/how it switches screens and share a debug log in a GitHub issue to help us track and fix this

You obviously did not read the post four above yours, which referred the poster to this issue and temporary workaround Plex companion app connection issues · Issue #69 · RasPlex/OpenPHT · GitHub, researching before posting is usually a good idea.

Also if this is ‘as buggy as hell’ you name only two issues, are there more you want to share?
