Same here, I have no words… especially the Live TV part is so bad… I can’t even record any movies when browsing through the upcoming movies list… same applies for series… seems like you have to go through EPG each day and browse all channels / days / time frames…
Really disappointing. To all the people who have not yet upgraded, leave it!

I just tried the new plex experience app. It’s so slow and buggy. Sometimes pages won’t even load. I hope they’re not releasing this version.

I hope this is only the April 1st joke.
I can’t continue watching movies and have to restart watching them. If I am lucky I can manually skip the video to the desired position but the new app crashes very often.
In addition, no Picture in Picture is working anymore on my iphone.
I also want the old app back again? Why have you roled out this crappy app update?
bugs noticed since update (2 hours ago…):

no Picture in Picture (sometimes it works, by closing plex, but normally just the sound in the background - no icon for PIP)

no full screen ratio changes via double clicking on the video

no playback of video files with .ts files (technosat receiver recordings, before the update this worked like a charm)

video files which are not working can also not be continued watching only from the beginning (these videos are working with the old app and also via plex web, so its definitively the new app)
*no status indicator (progress bar after clicking on the movie, only button “continue”

This was announced months ago. Music and photos are now only in dedicated apps. The main plex app focuses on video content.
Live TV Casting on Android has been broken for check notes 2 years now. They acknowledged it back then and just don’t care.
I had a tiny glimmer of hope that it would be finally fixed in this version. LOL.
Why are plex admins/mods not saying anything? Also I can’t believe after all this time I might be switching to jellyfin.
They’re doing the typical Plex response. Don’t say anything and hope things settle down.
It’s not going to though…so far they’ve only released the IOS version. Wait until the new app hits all devices. It’s going to be a disaster. And all because someone said “we’ll release it in Q1”
The only option is to sideload. I I had to disable auto updates on my iPad to prevent the update. I really don’t get the rational in releasing a half baked product.
This is EXACTLY what happened last year or the year before that when DISCOVERY and WATCHLIST was launched. I remember the uproar about that.
It’s wild. It’s like dealing with an abusive partner. You give them some slack, thinking they’ll change and improve their behavior but nope, the abusive pattern continues.
Sadly, no. This is very much on brand with what Plex Inc. has done in the past. They are very good at giving us whiplash.

There was a time I wanted the iOS app INFUSE and it’s parent company FireCore to have been bought by Plex Inc. Now, looking back and knowing how the most basic video player settings are in VLC and Infuse for iOS but not in any of the Plex Client apps is absolutely PATHETIC in the yr 2025. Being able to alter video picture settings like Brightness and Contrast should have been added by now to the Plex app. WTH!

Really curious to see if a plex employee will respond to this thread with any kind of explanation, but this is really not a good sign. I haven’t updated yet but after seeing the feedback and reading about numerous features removed this is:
- A terrible new design and
- A horribly performing app
Will they respond or is this a black hole of complaints that Plex, at the end of the day, doesn’t reaaally care about, even when they say “rest assured we are working on it” and nothing else. Obviously they are working hard, but to what end? Is the goal to become Netflix or actually fix bugs that people care about? You don’t have to go far to find many long time users who are frustrated with the direction that Plex is heading. I’m not giving up yet but if things continue down this path I predict Plex will see a huge drop in its number of users and I will be one of them.
