All of my downloads were gone. I understand that downloads have changed and this is probably why. However, my 5 year old was not happy…
When traveling, I typically use a USB C - HDMI cable to easily plug in my iPad 6 mini to the TV. I used to be able to load Plex and stream whatever locally or while on wifi. However, you can no longer turn the iPad screen off (it must be on at all times draining the battery faster) and the screen resolution is wonky. Is there a fix for this?
Lastly, the new app seems clunky and slower. I’ll try reinstalling, etc. to see if that fixes the issue.
Yes please upload the old app as legacy option for those that want to download it on IOS.
We need custom aspect ratio and DTS 7.1 channel boost back. Some movies are unwatchable cause of this new update.
Yep many featrues missing the old app was better I don’t know what kind of garbage they put out but I honestly think I’m done with plex mobile the old saying is always right If Ain’t Broke Don’t Fix It somethings are better left alone.
Update: Well that’s it for the old version of the plex app in the google store they updated it to bring you the new garbage experience I officially uninstalled plex mobile I am done with that garbage the need to feel to change things why the hell did they messed this up just like garbage teamviewer they made so many changes you can only connect to your pc for like 6 minutes I uninstalled Teamviewer too such garbage I hate when companies do this. I am officially done with plex mobile looking for a program similar to plex that don’t do this type of garbage ass changes.
Several things i have noticed. #1. If watching a TV show from a friends library, and I change from Wifi to Cell or back the video restarts from the beginning. #2 Downloading a Show from a library has changed. There used to be an option to download the next X number of unwatched shows. That does not appear to exist currently. #3 navigating to Seasons in a show on a friends library is not anywhere as easy as it used to be . trying to find a specific episode / season is way more difficult that it should be.
Is there no way to download whole shows or whole seasons anymore? Makes it really tough to grab a bunch of episodes of something. Also, mass deleting these things afterwards is really tough too. If you had a whole show downloaded, you have to delete each episode one by one. Each deletion takes 1 swipe and two clicks. So it takes 50 swipes and 100 clicks to delete 50 episodes of something.
Also, I have this hooked up to my digital antenna and I can’t seem to load Live TV at all. It just freezes up every time.

Yeah, they pushed an update for iOS and it addressed none of the problems mentioned everywhere.
The crashes, the stuttering on previously perfectly functional environment, the inability to delete media from the player, the stream still playing while the iPad was shut off or the lid closed.
The disappearing UI, the customizable subtitles, but Hey! you can have a bigger resolution avatar because God knows you just wanting to watch your local files need more social interactions.
I understand Plex has a strategy and a willingness to pivot from the previous one, but how about fixing the numerous bugs to make the whole we’re going social deal with it more palatable?!
I wrote Plex an email and I recommend you all do the same. it will not change to share our frustration here as many of you mentioned that plex is ignoring these forums. also, I rated the app (on my iPhone) so that it becomes visible. Maybe some of you can do the same. I looked for alternatives and will likely switch. (also depending on plex response). I will lose a lot of work / efforts, however better to get frustrated with this.

I wanted to Plex a chance to respond with a statement indicating their intention to address issues and listen feedback. The release from yesterday did not resolve any issues for me (perhaps it is just me).
The time I waste hoping Plex is fixing the app could be better invested in an alternative app, potentially with less frustration. I encourage everyone to rate the app in the app store accordingly. This is the email address I used: plexpass@plex.tv if some of you want to send a note.
I am mostly using plex on my Android TV for Music, Series and Films. Firstly, removing Music from the tv app was a terrible decision. I really liked sitting on my comfy sofa and looking at album covers and going through playlists using just the remote same as Spotify (I have a typical TV->DAC->Stereo amp setup). Make at least a plexamp version for Android TV.
Anyway after reading all the above comments I am beginning to fell that this is not the only problem with this update.
Menu on top, sluggish app, horizontal scrolling, Live TV spam and other useless things on the screen that you can’t hide and tons of missing features and bugs. No thanks. Like most people I really don’t get it. Why did you release this piece of crap in the first place?
I am a plex pass subscriber for the last 3-4 years. I didn’t really need any the plex pass extra features to be honest but I did it to support the development of plex.
I am not going to update the android app nor the server for as long as I can.
My old app that worked great would no longer work. Said I needed to update my Plex Media Server. I had no choice but to update the iOS app, it would not work at all. The new app is horrible for handling my TV shows on my server. Select show (for example with 9 seasons) goes to Season 1 Episode 1. USELESS.
