Releasing the new app was a crazy decision

There are loads of crap apps on the Appstore.

Apple doesn’t check anything regarding quality or feature complete-ness. How should they be able to?

Understood.

All my main libraries keep disconnecting. What a trainwreck…

I can’t wait till this hits Roku, and I get blamed by my family and friends for it. :expressionless:

Please work on app functionality and not just the looks. Volume and aspect ratio needs to be worked on.

The one thing worth pointing out is that the UI is significantly less functional compared to the older version, especially when trying to use it with one hand. The TV apps are even worse—just wait until they roll out; chaos is bound to erupt twice over. The Plex logo displayed while using the app feels like free advertising for them, which isn’t ideal. Plus, the account icon is always visible, unnecessarily taking up space.

Oh absolutely. In my mind they were “pushed” to release the mobile app but they know very well that the TV apps (which I assume are where most people consume their content) are nowhere near ready.

Based on what I’ve seen with the Apple TV preview I’ll avoid updating for as long as I possibly can. I firmly believe they won’t fix what we asked them to fix and they won’t revert back to the native player, which (to me) is a must.

As for the navigation in the mobile version, “less functional” is an understatement. We have big phones, why do I have to click on a small “x” in the top left corner of my screen to close a list? We have universal gestures for a reason, and they should be used.

Just a heads up my android tv plex app just auto upgraded to the new experience. The new experience hasn’t even been in preview for Android tv.

dam wtf i turned it off alot people about to realize and have discover and live tv permanently over all your artwork. It just makes no sense the hamburger menu was perfect. it kept the app well space out. its to crammed now and they still have a side menu like wtf were they thinking.

You can remove Discover, On Demand, etc. junk. Go to https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/online-media-sources and set all 6 options to “Disabled”. Close and re-open the app, and everything except the Live TV tab will vanish, as will the junk in the Home tab. All the junk will also stop showing up in all other apps by default, too.

Also, to avoid being prompted to re-select the user every time you open the app, tap your Profile > Settings > Account, and turn on Automatically Sign In.

Use iMazing. It is a great app and worth paying for even. Keep backups of your apps and rollback anything. Or, more importantly, recover an app that has disappeared from the app store entirely.

Just was forced with the new iOS app. Ouch.

Major errors that are 100% dealbreakers:

  • Remove that watchlist icon next to my profile picture, forever.
  • Remove that liveTV icon on the bottom, forever

The fact that you are forcing livetv and watchlist advertisements onto paying customers, yet again, is abhorrent and offensive.

What do we have to do to fix this obvious oversight. There is no way this would be a design decision on purpose.

You people put an “add to watchlist” button ON EVERY SINGLE tv show and movie?

Remove this, immediately and forever.

The more I use this terrible app, the less I want plex, inc to stay solvent. It’s that offensive.

ya I will NEVER use your ad supported content, so please don’t force it on us. In fact, why don’t you just segment the ad supported stuff and the user managed media apps if required. Plex is about customization and control. If I want posters over these weird title graphics you’ve introduced, why not allow me that choice?

Its 1 big sonos mess. The lead developer and test coordinator should be sacked! This is insane. its a downgrade! This should never have been released!

Has anyone asked the customer what they wanted? Absolutely not and all warnings of customers where ignorred!

This was clearly a management decision.

Where the hell is the TV theme music? What was the goal of this app, because there is zero added functionality…its just an update to lose features. It’s unbelivable how stupid managment is on every level in every sector now.

In my experience, developers follow specs provided by the product team, and QA just reports bugs – they don’t get to decide if the bugs will actually be fixed.

Just left a one star review for the ages in the Apple AppStore and scrolled through hundreds of others calling the iOS Update (sic) a DISASTER!
