This is why I won’t pay for Plex honestly. It’s too random as to whether or not it works and it’s missing basic features or stuff just doesn’t work correctly. There’s a bunch of movies that suddenly won’t play on our TV, despite being the same file format and everything as another one that does.
Well here’s a question, 2 actually. Why would it suddenly stop working with no changes? I don’t even think it was immediately after an update, but I can’t be sure. Can I revert to a previous server version?
And why would the Plex web app say it’s working and accessible, but it isn’t? Is there a way we could at least locally test it without having to phone a friend? I don’t have premium so I can’t test on the phone.
you’re lucky to have even that minute man. I’m like having all my libraries being “grey” for over 3 weeks by now if I’m not at home with all my messages being ignored and 10 minutes ago I was told that I’m on my way to get banned for making the noise. maybe they have some copyright issues with the big guys, but why the hell should I care having all my stuff 100% clean?
I’m keeping all these messages just in case.
Don’t I need the plex premium which I don’t have for that? The app won’t show my server and clicking my name/server in the Users and Sharing section doesn’t do anything.
It says the server is offline I guess? Not huge on having to figure out a secondary app for this.
Nope. Without a Plex Pass or having paid the one-time activation, the mobiles apps can still be used, but playback is limited to 1-minute. This should be enough to figure out if remote access and streaming work from your server. If it shows your server as offline, then the app isn’t able to communicate with your server, so something isn’t working. I will need to see the logs from the app to check.
Alright, well stuff went… weird. Long story short, I’m going to try switching the PC from Win7 to Win10 for other reasons. If the problem persists, I’ll be back.
