Remote Access - Says its working, but it isnt

Server Version#: 1.13.8.5395 (windows `10)
Player Version#: 7.6.2.7169

I believe I have everything setup correctly, and remote sharing has worked for ~5 years issue free and suddenly i believe a few weeks ago it stopped.

I have UPnP turned on in my Unifi USG router. I have the port manually selected in plex and forwarded correctly. Open port checkers say the port is open. Plex says it has remote access. BUT I cannot see thumbnails or play media off my network via phone (verizon network) or a friend who accesses my library via roku a town over. I have done a repair install of plex server.

Any ideas?

Something is wrong on the PLEX high side …

I’m having the same issue with one of my servers (Ubuntu 14.04 based). This Linux server works fine at my house right now on my local network, but isn’t accessible outside that.

My other server (Windows 10 based and located in another state) is working fine, but says it isn’t reachable outside the local network despite remote access being enabled (and it clearly is accessible … I’m streaming from it now).

Same problem, finally updated after being pretty behind and now i regret it. Setup has been working fine for years and with latest this happens, says remote access is working but as soon as you try something dies and it cant actually connect. Nothing in logs, doesn’t matter if you use browser or an app. Have verified with TCPDump that forwarding is working correctly, the clients requests are making it through but again the only thing that changed was i updates to latest ver. Have tried all manner of restarting etc already this is clearly a bug with plex itself. Getting tired of stuff like this just like when login servers went down and couldnt watch even from lan, probably time to check out Emby

Same issue here. I am running windows 10. It says it is fully accessible, but I cannot access it outside my network. Just updated my server to the latest version and it seems to have broken it.

Interesting how many have the same issue…

also experiencing this issue. remote access set up correctly, has a green pad lock, but not able to access anything from outside of my network, says either Offline on some clients, or Unavailable. I’ve tried remote access using a 4G phone connection and family members pc across the country.

Family member has a plex server and is also experiencing this issue, I am unable to connect to their Plex, they are unable to connect to mine, but both have remote access set up correctly.

Same horse pucky, can’t access my media server outside of my network. Interesting thing though, i have two servers, one is accessible, one isn’t. The one that isn’t running the latest update of Plex (1.13.8.5395) is accessible. Thought is was just me until I came here.

It appears to be working again (for me) … but while it was down, I had my brother use an OpenVPN connection to get into my home network as a work-around.

On an iMac, server Version 1.13.8.5395 and I’m getting only a small group of my users connected. Most users are unable to see the server right now.

same problem here, can not access outside my network but shows that is accessible.

Just adding my voice…playing around trying to fix for 2 hrs, cannot get outside tv/roku to connect…like everybody said, “remote access is available”…never had a problem for 2 years, into a win10 system…and I’m pretty good at networks.

Same issue here. Windows 10 server with manually opened port on router. Updated Windows a couple days ago, and updated my router firmware. Remote access has been very flaky. Now it just won’t load at all. Server is running version 1.13.8.5395. Remote access says it is up and running, but it is not accessible.

Come on Plex. This happened a couple weeks ago and it is getting old. Focus on your key aspect of your program (i.e. home media organization / streaming), don’t go putting out updates that break the basic function of the app! I feel like Plex has been straying from what it used to do best, which is to be the best damn media front end available. Now they are offering “features” like web videos and podcasts that no one actually wants. Quit trying to be everything to everyone and focus on what you used to do best.

Same issue to me.
Had this issue not in last 3 years.
use linux server: 1.13.9.5439

Do same debugging and the url to access my server is not right:.
Int use the private net information, which don’t resolve:
10-125-8-205.xxxx.plex.direct:32400
instead of the right ip / port what is shown in server: remote Access
XXXXX.plex.direct:25xxxx

Yep. Add one more to the list. that’s 3 hours of my life farting around I won’t get back.
Unraid Docker PMS.

Same issues… Was working before. Says I’m good to go with a green lock and acts as if my server is offline. Ports forwarded. Was good now broken!

Hope there’s a solution coming!

New user here. Wasted a lot of time trying to get this to work with my Alexa Dot. Plex server says remote access is okay but Alexa says remote access is not available

Same issue as well, Plex Media Server for Netgear 1.13.8.5395-10d48da0d
