Remote Access connects for about 15 seconds then disconnects

Same issue here. Shows it on for 10seconds or so than disconnects. Never had this issue before.

Happy to send my logs, setup screen details, etc to resolve the same issue everyone in this thread is describing.
Is there a direct way I can provide this to you without exposing all of my network settings and logs in this public thread?

thanks

Hello…after months of multiple people telling me that they cannot connect to my server…setting up a DDNS, double checking firewalls and port forwards. I came to this conclusion.

My NETGEAR router has Ping and DoS protection. If what you’re experiencing was what I was experiencing, and nothing has helped, Disable Ping and DoS protection.

It’s the only thing that fixed it after reading months of forum logs and FAQs and Googles.

Is there a reason that Plex requires Ping and DoS protection be disabled in order for it to work outside my home network?

I already had those items turned off in my router. And it still fails after a little bit. You might want to re-check your ā€œremote accessā€ as it seems to drop after an unknown period of time. I haven’t changed anything other than doing server (windows) and plex updates.

Hi there,

Im using Plex servers at home (Windows & NAS)

Everything was runing so well till few months ago (December ? like many of you are saying)

Only the Nas was accessible from Lan/Wan

No matter what i tried, i lost acces for the Win10 computer, couldnt get the remote acces to work . And even tho it was saying ā€œonly accessible from Local networkā€, i just couldnt acces from anything on local network anymore …

I tried so many things on my router (fowarded so many ports/DMZ/Bridge mode etc etc). Couldnt figure what was the issue + i never had to do that type of crap before.

And 10 mins ago, i was looking at the windows defender firewall. Just disabling the pivate firewall for a sec made my plex server to finally show up on local+Wan

So then i was checking all the rules, there was already so many (old) rules for Plex server.

But just the fact that i made a new one (for plex server.exe @private network) made everything work again, so i can re-enable firewall and get local + remote access.

Never had to touch Windows firewall before, there was old plex rules already, but prolly rly old (and i’ve changed IPs/ISP/modem in between) but heh, it finally work !

As many here i tought it was Plex update’s fault, but i wanted to make sure before posting, glad i did that

Hope this will help ! (take 30 sec to make a simple new plex rules in windows’s firewall)

Sorry im French :stuck_out_tongue:

I am also experiencing servers going green(remote access) and then turning red and being inaccessable on plex.tv as of today

Any issues on the backend?

Hello, I am writing from Barcelona (Spain). I have been using Plex for a few months to watch series and movies on my Smart TV. So far everything perfect. Activate remote access and opened port 32400 on my router (Movistar Fibra Ɠptica), and invited 2 users to access my content. Everything worked fine the first day and then (yesterday) remote access stopped working and I can’t find the solution.

I have iMac. Could someone please help me find the solution? Thank you.

There was an issue on our back end systems that do the connectivity testing that would get the status to go green. This issue was seen about 9 hours ago and was confirmed as resolved about 6 hours ago

Ran through my tests again and got the same results. Accessible at first and quickly not available. Same error messages in the log.

Hi,

I was having the same, exact problem as everyone else here. Remote access had been working just fine, then suddenly it doesn’t. It flashes green for a few seconds, and then goes to red. I tried all the troubleshooting recommended, to no avail.

So yesterday, just on a lark, while I was out and about (staying six feet from everyone!) I got my phone out and tried to access Plex from my phone over Verizon. Darned if it didn’t work just fine!

I came back and looked at the server status, and it was displaying ā€œnot accessible outside your network.ā€

So, have any of you with the problem actually tried to access Plex in spite of the ā€œnot accessibleā€ message in the Settings page? I’m curious if it actually works for you, too.

I guess I’m not going to sweat it. It works, and it’s not worth my time and effort to try to figure out why Plex thinks it isn’t

I can’t help you whilst you have ā€œPort Triggeringā€ rule instead of ā€œPort Forwardingā€

Similar issue for me as well. Remote access wouldn’t work, and I couldn’t delete users. Remote would go green, but then when I’d come back a few minutes later to remote page it was red. Reset my router firmware (Tomato), checked all network and open ports; it was PMS. Downgraded to 1.16, all good now - remote access works and I can delete users. 1.18 is broken.

Could I have logs to compare from the 2 versions going through enable remote access and it being Lost

Which log files would those be? There’s quite a few of them here… Logs are 3-10MB each, perhaps some keywords you’d be looking for and I can cut the areas out with 30-40 lines of pre/post context and paste them up?

Please download logs zip and attach. Please make sure debug logging enabled beforehand.

Best comparison would be:
Enable debug logging on the server - see https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/

Shutdown plex media server

Download and install current version 1.18.8.2527-740d4c206
See https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/

Launch Plex Media Server 1.8.8.2527
Disable Remote Access.
Wait a minute
Enable Remote Access

When it goes wrong minutes later - capture the logs zip and save for later

Uninstall 1.18.8.2527 and install 1.16.5.1552-8e8d0c785

Launch 1.16.5.1552
Go through the same sequence
Disable Remote Access.
Wait a minute
Enable Remote Access

Capture logs some time later to show that it does not fail.

Attach both logs zips please and indication as to when it went wrong.
Do not take any action to try and resolve - I just need evidence of it failing on one version but not failing on the other and I will look at the logs

See this article for downloading the logs zip
