Remote Access Crashes Plex Server

Server Version#: 1.15.3.876
Player Version#:

Starting in the last week (I think since the last update) any remote access causes my Plex server to crash. My friends reported issues connecting to my server and I can trigger the crash myself by turning WiFi off on my phone and attempting to connect. Within my home network, however there is no issue.

I have tried to find crash logs but there don’t appear to be any in the localAppData or in RegEdit. Within seconds of an attempted remote connection my PC restarts.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Have a look at the Windows Event Logs - System and Application and see if there are any clues / bugchecks ?

May be CPU overheating during transcoding. Check fan / temperature

I’ve attached what I hope is the correct log from the Plex server. If it isn’t, please direct me to which one is helpful. I have to crash the server and disconnect my internet before it automatically erases the crash log. Plex Media Server Logs_2019-04-10_20-18-16.zip (495.3 KB) It appears to be a transcoding issue, but I have no idea how to fix it.

Thanks for the logs.

You are running the server on wifi. That is not recommended.
What I can see is that there was no active working network interface on your last server launch at 20:17 on Apr 10, 2019

So it appears that the network card died and was not operational when you relaunched the server

This shows all outgoing requests failing - no DNS

The area to look into the network card and i would recommend switching to an ethernet cable connection and not rely on wifi

I moved my external hard drive and connected it to my router via USB. My computer still crashes when Plex is accessed remotely. I uninstalled PMS and now it hangs when I try to reinstall it.

I realize WiFi might not be ideal, but this issue hasn’t been a problem until the latest update and ethernet isn’t possible for my desktop/server. And now Plex isn’t functioning at all.

Completely different issue - unless you have a windows problem that is affecting network and installs

Try running sfc /scannow in elevated window

I installed an older version of Plex Server and the issue is resolved.

That would not explain any hang during install that you mentioned.

The only symptom seen from the diagnostics you provided was the network interface being unavailable at 20:17 on 10th April.

I am not aware of any changes between 1.14.1.5488 and 1,15,x relating to networking

If you could, after a while running on 1.14.1.5488, update again to latest beta and let me have fresh logs of any repeat of the problem you had before plus an indication as to when the issue arose
