I recently moved cross country and my NAS was working fine until the move. Since getting to the new home, everything is not connecting properly. Remote Access shows Green, but when I go to Manage > Library and Scan the Library, it doesn’t find the drives unless I go into Finder and Connect to Server. And when I unmount the Media drives, the media is then inaccessible. It wasn’t like this before I moved, so what changed?
I’ve also noticed that when I do connect to the server, it will disconnect. Both my Mac and the NAS are connected via LAN ethernet cords, so the connection is stable. Any advice? I’m at a loss and am 2 hours deep into watching tutorials.
Remote access and the access to your drives shouldn’t be related.
Do you automatically mount the drives of your NAS to the Mac? If your NAS has a new local IP, any saved credentials in keychain/password app might no longer automatically apply to the new setup.
No, the drives don’t automatically mount to the Mac. I’m uncertain how to set that up. And yeah, the NAS has a new local IP. I’ve updated the router for Port Forwarding for the computer to the 32400. Since doing that, Remote Access has remained Green.
Regarding the disconnection issue, I’ll mount the NAS to Finder, and while Plex is scanning the library, it’ll disconnect and interrupt the scan.
Appreciate the help, btw! (Be Right Back, gonna get something to eat)
Does the NAS have an IP reservation on your new setup?
When connecting the drive… did you let your Mac store the credentials (depending on your version of macOS, that should either go to the Keychain or Passwords app)
after doing this, and with the drive connected/mapped, you should be able to drag it to System Settings > General > Start Up Items (or go to that system setting and click +, then select the drive).
So, I made the above adjustments as recommended. The NAS did have an IP reservation on the new setup. I added the partitions to mount upon startup. And Plex Media Server had permissions in the Privacy & Security > Local Network. I refreshed the Plex desktop and started to scan again, it started to play a video and then it went offline. Remote Access now shows as Red (Not available outside your network ; You currently have Remote Access enabled through a manually-specified port. If you wish to disable Remote Access, you will need to remove your manual port forwarding from your router.)
