Remote Access Drops with Version 1.13.2.5154

Ever since I updated the Plex Server to Version 1.13.2.5154 my Remote Access has been inconsistent. I have both a Static IP address and Port Forwarding to Port 32400. I have to go into the settings and hit the “Disable Remote Access” button, then wait awhile and and choose “Enable Remote Access”. It just dropped while I was typing this. What happened to the stability of the connection to the server?

I am also seeing this issue.

trumpy81,

Thank you for your reply. Yes, the connection is stable, and everything in the chain has been rebooted (Router, Synology NAS w/Plex Srever, and all devices accessing Plex). The connection seems to be a bit more stable now, but is certainly less reliable with this Plex update, then with previous versions.

Same issue here.

I’m seeing the same also. Downgrading was the only solution I’ve found so far. My first response was to reboot modem, router, switch and OS. Seems to affect remote only, otherwise everything seem fine. Using linux mint 18.3 with firewall. Disabling firewall didn’t help.

I experienced this same issue with build 1.13.2.5154
Everything was working inside and outside my network prior to this build.
However, after installing the above update, my external connection would no longer show as available – and external players couldn’t see my Plex Server.
After verifying that my ports were open on my router, verifying that the ports matched those in my PMS settings, I restarted my router, rebooted my Windows PC running the PMS software and still nothing worked.
Luckily, I toggled the “Manual” port settings in PMS to “off” (default) and now my ports are forwarding properly again and external players can see my Plex libraries.
Why manual port forwarding stopped working is beyond me since the change log for this build revision listed no changes for network.

You turned off the “manually specify port” setting?

I am also curious what protocol folks have set in router. Seen a few reports recently of folks with both TCP&UDP enabled having issues getting Remote access working. PMS only needs TCP.

Yes 'BigWheel’ both TCP&UDP were enabled in my router for this port. Thanks, we’ll see how remote fairs after changing to TCP only. Updating back to Version 1.13.2.5154 as we speak.

Will update if it holds over the next few days.

So far after changing router setting for port from TCP&UDP to TCP only I’ve had no drop-outs of ‘Remote Access’ . If it was going to happen, it would have by now. Seems in my case having both set cause some kind of problem with Version 1.13.2.5154 making Remote Access iffy at best. Maybe now I can enjoy the TV Guide update to its fullest.

Much Thanks ’BigWheel’

Designated Plex Server ‘Linux Mint MATE 18.3’

My connection has been stable for about a week now. I did not change any of my settings within my Router, however, I did reboot everything within the house and then toggled my settings from On to Off and then back again. I wish I could explain the fix but that is what I did.

I also have a similar problem, started a week ago. If I disable remote access then reenable it works for a week, then it happens again. Must be a bug with the latest server version.

Ok. so now this is getting a joke.
I am currently have to turn off remote access and then reenable at least 3 to 4 times a day.
My hardware has not changed. My network has not changed. I have not changed my ISP.
The only thing that has changed is the build of Plex.
But in the “what’s new” it never listed that they were going to break remote access.
I did not realise this is a feature enhancement.

PLEASE SUPPORT FIX THIS

I’m having the same issues. I didn’t change a thing with my system or settings and its all messed up since the update. Tried all the things you all tried and hasn’t seemed to fix anything. Its really hit or miss with my family watching remote. Some devices work, some don’t, and some work partially then drop. This update was terrible.

BUMP!!!

There is an issue with Plex concerning detecting connectivity.

I have been using Plex since OSXBMC. With a recent update, the WebUI has been displaying “Not available outside your network”, yet connectivity is working just fine. I have my Plex Server running on a Docker container, port forwarding on 32400 is set on my router, and my firewall accepts all incoming traffic to my Plex server on port 32400. Everything seems to be working fine except for the notification of the connectivity issue. Nothing has changed except for updating Plex (as far as I can tell).

I have also experienced random connectivity failures from external access, only for it to be restored before I am able to troubleshoot the problem. Unfortunately, the network status indication always shows unavailable regardless of actual external access availability.

The board is FULL of these reports. I would love to hear that the developers are looking into the issue.

I have restarted Plex, my server, my router, etc… Let’s avoid the usual suspects when advanced users report issues like this. This seems widespread for many platforms.

We are looking into it

Thanks @BigWheel . That’s all I needed to know. I’m sure you’ll find that pesky bug!

@BigWheel

What is the status of this from the Plex side?

I think the problem lies within PMS’s uPNP framework. Its constantly changing the port used for remote access when it doesnt need to.

Since my last post 2hrs ago, the external port has changed. Thats unnecessary.

Do you have server logs showing it changing/requesting a new one. most folks here are using manual port forwarding which should never change port. i wasn’t even thinking about UpNP. but yeah if you are using UPnP i can’t think of why it would be changing so much

I do not use UpNP, Plex is setup with manual Port Forwarding from my router.
