Remote Access Enabled: Unknown Private IP?

I have remote access enabled and I can indeed access my Plex Server running on the Shield TV remotely but noticed that the Plex Server doesn’t seem to be able to determine its IP (Private IP) under the “Server Mapping” section of Settings -> Server -> Remote Access. It just says “Unknown IP” while the status on the page says “Fully accessible outside your network”. No problem determining my Public IP and Port. Sounds like this has been reported and maybe fixed for other Operating Systems when I did a forum search.

I’m not too concerned about this since things seem to be working. I’m mainly wondering if others also have “Unknown IP” listed too.

My Shield TV is wired Ethernet and using DHCP to give my Shield TV a “static” IP I think. I might have it hard coded. I’ll have to double check that if it makes a difference.

The only possible problem I’ve noticed is that the Plex Web Interface will listed the Shield TV as “Remote” instead of “Nearby” when I’m accessing the web interface from my other Plex Server running on Windows which lives on the same network subnet as the Shield TV. So, I’m assuming when I connect to the Shield TV from my local network the traffic is going out to the Internet and bouncing back into my network instead of just connecting to it directly on the local network.

after struggling for weeks with trying to properly configure plex media server for remote access. I finally got it to work even though i am not quite sure what I did to arrive there. I also notice that both the private and public ip are not visible and on say ip unknown. This is different from when it worked previously before adding the Asus RT-AC68u router when remote access was enabled and both IP addresses were visible and not “Unknown”.
