Issues with Remote Access for Plex

Hey guys,

I’m fairly competent when it comes to things on a PC. However, I’m a complete noob when it comes to anything internet or router related. Too many letters and random numbers to deal with!

I’m trying to take advantage of my shiny new Plex Pass by allowing my libraries to be available when I’m out and about or when my siblings at university want to use it, but I’m being shown that it isn’t reachable outside my network. Beneath that and under ‘Server Mapping’ it’s showing as ‘Private - Unknown IP (X)’, ‘Public - Unknown IP (X)’, ‘Internet’.

If it helps, I’m using a Netgear D6200 router, and I’ve tried to setup port forwarding and the like but with no success.

Regards,

Sam

I saw in another thread that a user got help from this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g50xV6fwvl4 - perhaps it’ll help you too (I haven’t watched it tbh, so sorry if not). There’s always Plex own FAQ too - https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200484543-Enabling-Remote-Access-for-a-Server

The “Private unknown IP” is a bit worrisome though.
