I’ve got an ongoing problem with my media server in that sometimes the remote access works perfectly fine, other times I get the “Not available outside your network” message. I’m not changing anything in my set-up… it’s connected to the Internet via a TP Link and ethernet cable. Any ideas why it might be so flakey, and how to get it to stabilise?
Hi, so sorry for the slow reply! No, it’s on a dynamic IP address… should it be static?
I’m now experiencing a different problem where my music files aren’t playing in the app even when I’m connected to my home WiFi network… not sure if that’s related to the problem with the remote access or not? I’m just getting a message saying “An error occurred while playing this item” each time. Any ideas on that one?
I have a similar problem. In my case I can always restore access when I go to the server settings → Remore Access and click the apply manual port button. If you are not using a manually specified port there might be a test connection button or something there instead. Can you try this the next time and see if that restores access for you?
You can reach your server if you’re on the same network and use an url like this http://<local_ip_number_of_server>:32400/web
Thank you for the response (and sorry for the slow reply from me!). I am not using a manually specified port, and there is no test connection button unfortunately
