Hi, I have Plex Media Server set up on my Windows Desktop. However, it seems my Remote Access is not working, I get the “Not available outside your network” message at app.plex.tv > Settings > Remote Desktop (see screenshot)
Can someone please help me debug this? I have tried reading similar posts from other users but to no avail.
If there is any other info I can provide (or screenshots/logs etc.) please let me know and I will add them ASAP.
Does your server have a static IP address or a router reserved IP address?
I’m not sure, how can I check this? I am logged in the config of my router (Fritz!Box 7530) but not sure where to look
Have you configured port forwarding in your router?
Again, sorry but not too sure where to look. I have tried a few different steps in my router config over the last few weeks to try to resolve this issue, but not sure if configuring port forwarding is something I’ve done.
OK I think I may have it working now! I think when I previously tried enabling Automatic Port Forwarding for the desktop running Plex (via my router’s config) I enabled it for a different desktop instead
I just went back in and enabled it for the correct desktop and now my Remote Access appears to be working.
OK, on canyouseeme.org, the “Your IP” field seems to be pre-populated and greyed out, is that expected? And then what should I enter for the “Port to Check” field? Currently it is showing 80
Seems you were right FordGuy61…I just switched my phone to a 4G connection to see if I could play some content via my Plex app, and it did work but said it was an Indirect Connection.
Now when I go back to the app.plex.tv > Settings > Remote Access it has reverted to showing the “Not available outside your network message”
Does this mean something hasn’t worked properly with the Automatic Port Forwarding I set up in my router config?
Here’s how port forwarding looks in my Asus router. Internal IP Address is the address of my Plex server. Source IP is left blank, because the IP address of my phone, etc will change based on location.
Thanks - I think I may have got it to work now. I think I set up a static IP and then I restarted everything and I am now getting the “Fully accessible outside your network” message
